I made quite a lazy unsophisticated strange plant farm. It is 100% afk and completely passive so can be turned on whilst doing other things. It’s lazy as I didn’t put any thought into the timings which probably could’ve been faster.
Anyway it works like this there are a lot of dirt layers with 3 tile gaps between them. I tried to make the farm long as I could be bothered to build making sure it was above the 240 tile limit for strange plant spawning by like 2 times- again lazily didn’t measure just went excess.
The timer system worked by firing a dart to hit a teal pressure plate, the pressure plate would be hooked up to the next dart trap and would also be hooked up to 4 layers of dirt to break strange plants. After this the next dart trap would fire actuating the next 4 layers and etc to the end of the rows, after this the plants then fall onto a hoik which is then actuated.
After everything in the farm has been actuated, the farm is reset by two dart traps that turns the reset mechanism on and off. The reset mechanism is an and gate at each layer when the and gate is activated by 2 on inputs the blocks become solid again and by doing this turns off the and gate immediately again in a puff of smoke. There needs to be two dart traps as the reset has to be turned off again otherwise none of the blocks will be able to be actuated. Worst explanation of my life the photo will help with this one lol!!
Lots of the measurements used were arbitrary and only passed the yeah that should be good enough protocol, but works well. The reset switch is the most important part I think as without it the farm could be badly broken very quickly either by pets or by wraiths being hit by an arrow mid cycle. And also yeah timer cascade probably would’ve been easier but timers gross me out and probs easier to mess up. If anyone wants the world download to see it in action or something DM me I guess!!
