so this is a compilation of every trap I ever suggested on the original TO, all put into one handy dandy thread

first, boulders
boulders are awesome.
even into hardmode, their 60 or so damage is awesome.
but there is only one type.
let me fix that. (all boulders break when running into an elavation in their path unless otherwise denoted)

crafted at sawmill (8 wood)
20 damage

boulder

Ice boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 ice)
60 damage

Giant Snowball
crafted at tinkers workshop (10 snow)
10 damage
damage and size increase when rolling on snow.
the longer it rolls, the bigger and more effective it is, capping at 200 damage.
breaks when hitting an enemy

ebon boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 ebonstone)
70 damage
spreads corruption upon breaking

crimstone boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 crimstone)
70 damage
spreads crimson upon breaking

mossball
sold by witch doctor
30 damage
inflicts poison
shoots out 3-5 stingers upon breaking

ball o' web
crafted at loom (20 web)
20 damage
breaks on hit
traps enemy in sticky web for 5 seconds

hellstone boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 obsidian, 1 hellstone bar)
80 damage
inflicts on fire!
leaves lava when breaking

pearl
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 pearlstone)
70 damage
spreads hallow upon breaking

cursed boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (1 ebon boulder, 1 cursed flame)
90 damage
inflicts cursed flames, spreads corruption on breaking

ichorous boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop(1 crimstone boulder, 1 ichor)
90 damage
inflicts ichor, spreads crimson on breaking

holy boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (1 pearl, 1 crystal shard)
90 damage
sends out 4-7 crystal shards for 20 damage each on breaking and spreads hallow on breaking

[the long awaited] lihzard boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop (4 lihzard brick)
120 damage

pinata
sold by party girl
explodes into confetti on breaking

giant spiky ball
sold by goblin tinker after plantera is defeated
140 damage
explodes into 15 normal spiky balls

explosive boulder
crafted at tinkers workshop(1 boulder, 1 explosive powder)
60 damage
explodes upon breaking, damages tiles in a radius similar to bombs

Dungeone boulder(s)
crafted at tinkers workshop(4 pink/blue/green dungeon brick, 1 spike)
80 damage
found in traps in dungeon
leaves behind a spike on breaking

fireball boulder
crafted with 4 living fire at tinkers workshop
60 damage
inflicts on fire!
leaves a trail of flames similar to the molotov
explodes into firballs on breaking

chum
quest reward in stacks of 5-10 from angler
damage: 10-60 (random)
upon breaking, turns into gore of random water enemies. can drop any kind of fish, even rarely quest fish. will also spawn hostile fish when breaking underwater

giant boulder (4X4 instad of 2X2)
crafted with 100 stone at tinkers workshop
500 damage
rolls about as fast as a player runs. cant be used in cAtapult
its like that one movie

9999 damage
rolls as fast as a player walks
found in traps in lihzard temples where you have to run through a trap gauntlet to escape without dying, indiana jones style

and now for
the catapult

can be placed
right click to charge. the more rou right click, the farther the shot.
left click to place a boulder of any kind (also beachball for teh lawlz) in the catapult
right click to fire
boulders always break on landing unless otherwise denoted



boulders can have corruption, hallow, or crimson spread to them

and a small tweak to lihzard traps
So the lihzard temple appears to me as ancient technology/ earth/ fire themed.
and the traps are awesome.
except the super dart trap...
it doesnt really fit.
why would a civilization with flamethrowers, giant robots, and power, use PRIMATIVE DARTS?
so what i am suggesting, is that instead of super dart traps spawning, HEAT RAY traps will spawn

heat ray trap:
65 damage
lower cooldown rate than dart traps (1 second)
inflicts On Fire!

super dart trap's texture could be changed, and would spawn in the dungeon when hardmode is reached.

and here are more random traps

sawblade trap
placeable as a background wall
looks like a slot in a lihzard brick wall. you only need to activate one tile to activate the trap.
the more tiles you place horizontally adjacent to each other, the longer the trap.
the way the saw goes depends on the side the wire activates it on
40 damage
a sawblade will travel along the slot, dealing damage multiple times from knockback

ice, crimstone, ebonstone, and pearlstone pressure plates
self explanatory

pitfall traps
found in jungles.
appear as grassy mud blocks, that players fall through.
you find bamboo stakes underneath, they are spikes which deal 10 damage

spore cloud mushroom
mushrooms which can be found in the background walls or foreground that release a damaging spore cloud upon touch for 10 damage and gives poison debuff

spear trap- background
what looks like a hole in a lihzard wall
can be powered to make a spear hit something directly in front of it for 70 damage

SPRITES ARE APPRICIATED. A BANNER WOULD BE NICE TO.
