First off, I understand now that no one here wants more of these...but I started this two weeks ago before I knew this. I was fairly far along in the conceptualization before I saw that other people already thought of making alternate hallows; the cyber/covert. So if your comment is "Ugh, we already have one" please know that I figured this out already. ;) Also, after seeing that Red told us in this AMA(Picture here) that he "already [has] this alternative planned out," I don't exactly expect this to make it's way into the game...and I feel the same about the cyber. That being said let's get on topic now:

If we are going to have a secondary Hallow, it needs to follow a few primary rules:
----------------------------------
I) It needs to be similar to the hallow enough for souls of light to make sense.
II) It needs to counter the hallow in a similar fashion to corruption/crimson.
III) It needs to counter the crimson in an extreme fashion.
IV) It should follow a central theme e.g. cursed flames, ichor, and crystals.
----------------------------------
Secondarily, it needs to replace some, if not all hallow and underground hallow items logically:

Please note! there does not need to be exactly the same number of items, but this is the list of most of the affected items when replacing the Hallow. Items won't be described in this section, only listed. For descriptions of new content go two spoilers down.

- Fish both above and underground types
- Enemies both above and underground, day and night types
- Weapons

I have come up with two ideas that follow along these lines well. A few bits need work, but all in all I think they fit the part. Feel free to come up with your own ideas and if the community likes em enough, I'll add them to the list! Also, if there are any sprites not drawn this page feel free to draw them. If they are good enough I'll add them to this post pronto. ^^ I drew a few but quickly realized why I don't do pixel art...

The Hollow
(Name might get confusing, perhaps The Spook? Work with me here ;P)

The Hollow is the image of the afterlife, transposed over a ghoulish graveyard in which spirits make
up the greater part of the population. The land becomes bleached; trees, grass, and stone alike while the rock
doodads are transformed into gravestones. The trees also loose most of their
leaves and what is not lost turns pale as a ghost. The light level is always lower than normal.

Primarily

----------------------------------
I) Enemies carry with them the light of the afterlife.
II) Follows the magical idea of the hallow, but not it's jovial nature.
III) The Hollow counters the crimson's image of lively blood and flesh with ghostly substance.
IV) Ghostly Everything/Decay debuff

Ethereal Edge
I realized I needed an alternate to the Terra Blade. I chose to make it the opposite of earth themed by making it ethereal. It is slightly weaker than True Night's Edge, but much faster. It even tops the Terra blade for speed. I have his idea that there should be four "True" swords; True Excalibur, True Night's Edge, Ghost Slayer, and a crimson sword. Each would combine with another so there would be a total of 6 "End game" swords; 10 if they could combine with themselves.

Crafts into a single item with two projectiles: the dark half dishes out high damage and bounces off targets while the light half deals much lower damage and pierces any number of enemies. Hollowood set
Identical to Pearlwood armor in all ways except texture.

Hollow armor is much lighter than Hallow armor. It not only has low defense, but increases your speed. Spirit Charm
I'm not sure exactly how this item should work, but I do like the alternate cross necklace idea. Here are two possibilities, the top one being my preferred.
-Increases length of invincibility after taking damage proportionate to the amount of damage you take. 0-0%, 50-100%(equal to cross necklace), 150-300%...450-900%
In this case, the accessory would be less useful when taking less than 50 damage, but potentially much more useful when taking more. The amount can be debated
Equation: (Damage taken) x 2 = % increase for invincibility time
-Increases length of invincibility after taking damage proportionate to your health. 100% Health-0% increase, 66%-50%, 33%-100%, 0.1%-149.85%(doesn't quite reach 150%)
In this case, the accessory would be less useful for 2/3 of your health, but more so once you reach 33% health
Equation: (% of missing health) x 1.5 = percent increase for invincibility time.
I don't know think it should stack but whatever you guys want.

The Mythos

The world transcended into godly radiance. Golden grass covers this resplendent
paradise beneath trees of the same splendor. The stone and sand that make up most of the area
follow the theme with their palette consisting of mostly brilliant gold
colors. Mythical beings litter the landscape and the depths that lurk beneath.

Primarily

----------------------------------
I) The light of the gods shines on the creatures roaming this land.
II) Magical in nature but not so colorful in pallet. Myth conquers magic here.
III) The Mythos works on a higher level of intelligence that starkly opposes the primal nature of the crimson
(if you've played starcraft, think zerg/protoss but not as severe. Obviously the Mythos has no spaceship stuff...)

Once the player get's too close, it will take off and act like a flying enemy from then on. It will still shoot spines at the player, though they are significantly weaker ones. You don't want to take these guys on from afar due to their high defense when stationary.

Apollo's Watch
Creates a line centered on the player that vertically spans the entire screen. It is slightly less bright than the fairy bell but sheds light far up and down.

Midas Touch
Randomly chooses between arm, leg, and head when inflicted and has specific effects for each.
Midas Arm: 25% attack speed(melee and range only). Acts similar to the Curse debuff.
Midas Leg: 25% walk speed, 25% jump height. Acts similar to the Slowness debuff.
Midas Head: 25% cast rate(magic). Acts similar to the Silenced debuff.
None of these debuffs can overlap with another. I am unsure as to whether or not they should replace each other when the enemy is inflicted, or simply do nothing.

That's it. If there is anything I missed, feel free to post. If there is anything that is wrong, feel free to correct me. If there is anything that needs texturing, please, feel free to texture it. If you do texture something, I'll be sure to add it to the post with proper credit! If there is more than one texture to choose from, I'll put the best in front and the rest in the spoiler. Thanks in advance! I'm not too worried about where this goes because Red made it pretty clear he has the situation under control. I started this on October 16th and mostly finished it by October 27th. It took all day October 28th to post it, as I had to add all of the proper spacing, punctuation, and code; not to mention fix and add small things. I really enjoyed thinking over it, and I hope you enjoy it too ^^

I'm following you for this ^_^

OT: This is impressive. Very well thought out, greatly formatted. I truly enjoyed reading this.....and I hate reading. I don't see that anything needs changing except the first one is majority about ghosts and decation....so how is that relevant to soul of light?
Also about armor, there should be more. Maybe Forbidden Armor? (May make a thread about that). Same with swords they need more. I'm really good at coming up with armor and swords (not that good at stats) but good none the less.

Actually, I prefer your mythos to the hollow. I'd even prefer the mythos to the cyber.
However, the hollow would be perfect as an "halloween biome".
P.S. The hippocampus is a modded horse

Soo Detailed! But the only things missing are sprites.

I havec a sprite of the Ghostly Decay (note I am not good at spriting, so this isn't the best)

Look into Primarily section of The Mythos. Something wrong there...

Well, it's nice suggestions! I like Mythos, this golden-colored biome
About Hollow... Neat idea spirit vs flesh, but, as already was stated, I would prefer Hollow like some Halloween-oriented biome (with Spooky wood!), not alter of something.

But Golden Silk... This one is perfect. Biome item thats grow like cobweb! I want this one ;)

First post, first follow. Yay! And as for the Hollow making sense with souls of light. Well, I was just thinking about the "light at the end of the tunnel" kinda thing. They acquired it. Idk. I thought it worked. x3 I would agree the armor section is a bit hollow *cough* but I was merely thinking in terms of alternate Hallow, without crazy differences. The Hallow only has Pearlwood armor, so I decided it would be fin just to have Hollowood armor. But I'm definitely open to ideas if someone comes up with good ones!

I like them both for different reasons. Oh, and I really appreciate that cyber comment, Super exciting. ^^ I do like the halloween biome idea, but when would it come into play? When you use the pumpkin medallion? Or maybe you need to get resources there to MAKE the pumpkin medallion. Idk. Nice idea! And yes, it is a retextured horse, but I also used another enemy. Can you figure out which one?

DANG! I knew I'd mess up somewhere. I'll fix it now. Thank you for that. And about the silk, coming up with odd ball ideas like that was definitely the best part of this whole experience.

Thanks for the kind words. And no problem here, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm sure there are tons of people who would choose the cyber, and even more who would choose the veridian. It won't rustle my jimmies in the slightest. I'm just super excited about having this many comments already =D

indeed, ALL of my yes. i love ghosts and spooky things. your idea ties specifically into those things in which i like so much. sooooo....ALL OF MY YES! :D

I) It needs to be similar to the hallow enough for souls of light to make sense.
Wrong. As illustrated by Zoomo's Cyber and Tobbvald's Covert/Contagion, you can completely reinvent the concept of our existing "Souls" and get away with it by linking it to a subsequent evil biome.
II) It needs to counter the hallow in a similar fashion to corruption/crimson.
Wrong, on the basis that the Crimson does not adequately counter the Hallow. Hallow is the essence of light and dreams, which is countered by the Corruptions shadowy nightmare feel. The Crimson rather has a malicious and bloody nature, and does not relate to the theme of darkness that is seen in entities like Souls of Night and Dark Mummies.
III) It needs to counter the crimson in an extreme fashion.
True, but I feel like the Cyber did it better.
IV) It should follow a central theme e.g. cursed flames, ichor, and crystals.
True, but your understanding of central themes seems limited based on this instance. Themes extend beyond the items themselves.
Entities don't determine theme. Theme determines the entities.

Unfortunately, I don't agree with your interpretation, so I can't support this, and my loyalties continue to lie with the almighty Cyber. The idea looks decent, and is definitely thorough, but it doesn't feel like it has a solid place in the game. You do deserve some credit for the effort you put into this, though, because it is a better fit for a Hallow alternate than others I have seen.

I would agree with you on this. But if you read my opening statement, I said I wrote most of this before I even heard of those two, and that thought hadn't come to me. Still, this path holds true if you don't wish to change the souls. Either way works really. I personally am completely opposed to adding alternate souls. Just doesn't feel right to me. But that's just my opinion ;P

I never said the crimson counters the Hallow. You misunderstand completely. I'm saying the alternate Hallow needs to counter the Hallow itself, not just be a copy/paste with different colors. Similar, but not identical. It must be a "Good evil" as opposed to the "Bad evil"s of the crimson/corruption.
True, but I feel like the Cyber did it better.
*shrug* Matter of opinion.
True, but your understanding of central themes seems limited based on this instance. Themes extend beyond the items themselves.
Entities don't determine theme. Theme determines the entities.
Not at all, my thought process was exactly what you just said. Look at the first thing I said about the Hollow theme: Ghostly everything, and the Mythos theme: Greek mythology. The entities and items were most certainly determined by the theme. Cursed flames, Ichor, and crystals were just examples; just to get the point across quickly.
Unfortunately, I don't agree with your interpretation, so I can't support this, and my loyalties continue to lie with the almighty Cyber. The idea looks decent, and is definitely thorough, but it doesn't feel like it has a solid place in the game. Again, matter of opinion. I feel both of these fit much better than the Cyber. But I respect yours as much as you respect mine. Thank you for commenting though, I do enjoy hearing what people have to say ^^

Carry on soldier *salutes*

I'd like to ask something: Can I make a pre-hardmode hollow (along with hallow, which I don't need perm for)?

I'd like to ask something: Can I make a pre-hardmode hollow (along with hallow, which I don't need perm for)?
Not sure what you're asking from the way you phrased your question. Could be one of the three things as far as I can tell:

1) "Should I invent a pre-hardmode Hollow?"
2) "In game, is it possible to make a pre-hardmode Hollow?"
3) I had one for 3...but I forgot what it was... *shrug*

Anyway, if it was the 1st one, Sure! Well, if you are creative enough. ;P I was thinking of doing that myself, but a lot of work would have to go into it. A LOT! You would have to completely create an entire early game experience from scratch! Where would it spawn? Would it have bosses? Would it have it's own armor? Would it have original content such as generation and blocks? There are a lot more questions, but I can't think of em. Now, all of these would be nullified if it would have a chance to spawn instead of the corruption/crimson. In that case you would just have to think up a replacement for the Eater of Worlds, new weak enemies, replacement for Shadow Orbs, and an alternate Demonite ore...not too bad. Replacing content is always easier than conceptualizing it.

If you are going to do this, keep me filled in! It really does sound like it has potential. And if you're going to do a pre-hardmode Hollow/Mythos, I would LOVE to give you ideas! It would be really fun to work on these biomes more!

If you meant more along the lines of the second one, well...idk. I've never tried it. The wiki is your friend there ;P
