How about alternative items for Crimson Worlds? Yes, i know, what happens to the other items? (Frost Hydra, Vampire Knives, Rainbow Gun, Pirahna Gun).. Well, Vampire Knives will stay in crimson worlds. But the other three will be replaced with following items:

Frozen Chest
  • Frozen Rod
  • 89 magic damage
  • Average speed
  • Very weak knockback
  • Shoots a icy fireball to freeze your enemys (could be seen as a upgrade to the Flower of Frost)
Jungle Chest
  • Plantera's Fury
  • 74 summoner damage
  • Fast speed
  • Strong knockback
  • Summons a baby plantera bulb, who can hang on blocks, similar to plantera. It can shoot pink seeds (sometimes green seeds).
Hallow Chest
  • Crystal Gun
  • 80 ranged damage
  • Rapid speed
  • Average knockback
  • Shoots crystal shards, similar to the Crystal Storm. Uses Crystal Shards as ammo.
And for my own idea, the Underworld Chest...
  • Infernal Broadsword
  • 95 melee damage
  • Very fast speed (autoswing)
  • Good knockback
  • Can inflict On Fire!
Do you have any other ideas?
BTW, here's the link to the Underworld Chest. http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/underworld-key-and-a-new-weapon.40355/

We have a Crimson alternative for corruption because A) Crimson is a direct alternative to corruption, and B) The biome weapons each correspond to a certain class - melee, ranged, magic or summoner. Melee has two because only one should be available per world (and Terraria was more or less built with the assumption that you'd be sticking in one world). Therefore, it doesn't make sense thematically to add crimson alternatives to normal Biome chests nor would it make sense balance-wise.

Also, Biome Weapons are supposed to be relatively mechanically unique- your Frozen Rod, Crystal Gun and Infernal Broadsword are more or less high-damage versions of generic weaponry.

I'll elaborate on that last part

  • Vampire Knives: Lifesteal on a weapon (as opposed to armor) and unique for shooting 5 projectiles at once as a melee weapon
  • Rainbow Gun: Shoots a rainbow that damages foes. That mean that the arc will last longer than most magic spells and creates an area of danger
  • Frost Hydra: Well, it became a prototype for Sentry Minions, so all of them are similar, but prior to the likes of the Rainbow Crystal Staff, Lunar Portal Staff and Queen Spider staff, it was unique for being stationary, and not counting against the minion limit.
  • Scourge of the Corrupter: It's uniqueness stems from firing projectiles that split into smaller ones that home in on the target
  • Piranha Gun: It causes a pirana to attack enemies as long as the attack button is held
To recap, one is a melee weapon that lifesteals, one creates a damaging area that lasts longer than usual, one deals more damage the longer its held down and one is a melee weapon that creates homing projectiles. The last one ultimately became a template for certain weapons but it did turret summons before it was cool
