An INNUMERABLE amount of weapons tested against Golem

I was bored, so I decided to do another one of these, this time against Golem. Golem is interesting because he doesn't move around much, meaning things don't usually have problems hitting him, and in his first phase he is composed of three parts, giving weapons with AoE or piercing an advantage. These tests were done in Journey Mode with the difficulty slider set to 3.00x (Master Mode), giving me 7 accessory slots to work with, and giving Golem 74586 total health (each of the fists have 13387 health, the head has 30600 health, and the body has 17212 health).

Here are my armour and accessory loadouts. From left to right: most melee weapons, yoyos, bows, guns, rocket launchers, other ranged weapons, magic weapons, and summoner weapons.

The top three accessories are always reforged to Menacing. For most of the loadouts except for the summoner one, the four bottom accessories are reforged to Lucky. In the case of summoner, all of the accessories are reforged to Menacing.

You may be confused as to why I didn't use Beetle armour or Destroyer Emblem or Celestial Shell. The answer is that those all require defeating Golem to obtain. I am limiting myself to Pre-Golem because you can't use Post-Golem gear the first time you fight Golem.

Buffs/Potions used:
Screen Shot 2021-11-06 at 12.58.09 PM.png

Alongside every melee, ranger and mage weapon, a Ruthless Desert Tiger Staff was used.

Each weapon is written in a certain colour, which represents how the weapon attacks and how it hits Golem. Guide to the colours:
  • Red means that the weapon doesn't pierce or create extra projectiles on hit
  • Yellow means that the weapon doesn't pierce, but it creates extra projectiles that can sometimes hit other parts of Golem
  • Purple means that the weapon has some form of AoE, which can hit the other parts of Golem
  • Blue means that the weapon has linear piercing, meaning that it can hit multiple parts if lined up correctly
  • Green means that the weapon hits in a wide area and can hit all parts of Golem easily
<15 seconds is stupendously overpowered, 15-25 seconds is really powerful, 26-35 seconds is very strong, 36-45 seconds is strong, 46-55 seconds is somewhat strong, 56-69 seconds is mediocre, >70 seconds is weak.

Fishron/Empress drops definitely are statistically significant outliers for kill times, which makes sense since they are technically tiered as post-Golem. But I am surprised there isn't a test for the Eventide with the Endless Quiver - the Wooden Arrow to Twilight Lance conversion gives them piercing damage for 4 targets, so all the lances can completely penetrate Golem's body and hands in the 1st phase rather than the double damage one, and is something I abused when I was doing Bows only+Wingless. None of the arrow types used with the Eventide in your tests have any piercing, so would this make a significant difference in kill times or not?

And wow Summoner is busted, none of the times go beyond a minute, and that's with Mech-tier summons and a single whip. Must be all that whip damage.

There are 33 Summonner builds that outstrip the best Magic weapon, Stellar Tune for kill times.
Most of the under-20-second summoner builds include a weapon that's nominally post-golem (let alone the Terraprisma) and/or juggling two or three whips. Without one of those, the times bottom out at 22 seconds. Several honestly pre-Golem magic weapons can do 40 or 45-seconds (notably the Resonance Scepter and Venom Staff) -- which is "twice as long", but also only a 20-second or so difference. I think that qualifies as "almost as good".

Technicaly using Terraprisma or sth like that is like using Duke's drops on pre mech. They are Lunar tier. And Duke+ Empress drop refered as post golem tier . So a little bit unfair when testin them on Golem.

You can still obtain them Pre-Golem, which means they are indeed candidates for the fight. Yes, their results mean quite a bit less, but how well they do against Golem still has relevance.

Makes sense when more than half of the tests were done with the theoretically-post-golem Kaleidoscope.

I think these tests need to be organized better; it's really hard to find the performance of a specific minion when more than half of the Summoner tests seem to be all possible combinations of Kaleidoscope you can think of instead of more helpful Pre-Golem Summoner tests

Really late to the party here (didn't see this till just now), but I think it's cool that, excluding Empress of Light, Frost Moon and Duke Fishron drops, the best Melee, Ranged, and Magic times are all 32-33 seconds (I'd consider Frost Moon to be generally post-Golem for most people).

Crazy that even without empress drops, whip-stacking gets desert tiger+firecracker+dark harvest to 17 seconds, and no whip stacking gets raven and dark harvest to 20 seconds. Seems like Summoner is the strongest class at this point in the game, even if they nerf whip stacking.

Did you do the summoner ones with "Max minions", 11, I believe... using Stardust Armor, Necromantic Scroll, Pygmy Necklace, Papyrus Scarab, Summoning Potion and Bewitching Table. Only 10 if you use the Tiki-armor from the witchdoctor. (The free sentry from stardust armor would need to be counted too, I suppose.)
I limited myself to Pre-Golem equipment, so I had 10 minions from Spooky armour, two scrolls, a Pygmy Necklace, and buffs. Tiki and Spooky provide the same number of minion slots however Spooky has a bigger damage increase, so there isn't any reason to use Tiki instead.
