Torch God
I am rewriting most of Calamity lore in a new way, with a new perspective. But you do need to meet the narrator first. The lore pieces will be written by a Valkyrie-type person named Angelica. She used to live in a sky kingdom, but she came down and met Yharim at the very beginning of his crusades, and joined him, becoming Captain of the Auric Guardians, whose job is to protect the most important people of the time (Yharim, Yharon, Draedon, Permafrost, and Calamitas). Most of them did their jobs and nothing more, but Angelica put in the time to learn more about the people she was protecting, and eventually befriended most of them. She is fond of Permafrost especially, who she loved to sit and talk with. Anyways, onto the lore:
Awakening
Oh, you are awake! You came as a surprise, falling out of the sky like that... but you look fine.
Nice to meet you, [PLAYER NAME]!
You have a long journey ahead, but you can succeed. Just like he did...
King Slime
I always found slimes to be interesting things. They come in many shapes and sizes, but I have never seen one at this size!
It seems to be a combination of many slimes, many weak beings becoming a stronger one. Their tenacity makes me partially admire slimes. But, no matter how many combine together, they will always lack higher intelligence, it seems.
Desert Scourge
A grand serpent, once the peaceful guardian of Ilmeris, drove to extreme hunger. It is sad, to see it go from what it once was to this vicious, mindless beast. I wish it could've ended differently, but alas...
Sunken Sea (dropped from Giant Clam)
The Sunken Sea, or what used to be Ilmeris, is a beautiful place. Peaceful to all ends, it was safe from the crusades for a long time, until Yharim turned his eyes to the remaining deity that lived there. With Calamitas, his new ally, he scorched the seas, turning it to desert. Only a small bit remains, deep under the desert sands. But, the effects of it will last forever, as the Stormlions and Prism Shards keep the charge used by the deity to protect their city.
Eye of Cthulu
A simple being that was commonly sought after by aspiring adventurers, as defeating one of these was a sign of bravery among many. However, no matter how many were slain, they kept coming back, haunting the night with its ever present gaze. Now, without any heros to keep them in check, their population keeps growing.
Crabulon
Once a crab from Ilmeris, it found its way to the Mushrooms, finding the light familiar. It perished here, and the mushrooms use it as a puppet to keep any potential threats away. It seems to be all bark no bite, however, as the mushrooms are not accustomed to actual combat.
The Crimson
The bloodstained ichor of the goddess of bloodshed and war infected this land, turning anything in it into mindless beasts, totally under the Crimson's control. One of the only things I totally agree with Yharim with, is that this is a sign of the corruption of the gods.
The Corruption
The dark ichor of the god of intellect. Anything this land touch turns dark and gloomy, the Eaters swarming anything that isn't a part of the hive mind. I find it the lesser evil than the Crimson, but it would still be good to rid of it entirely.
The Brain of Cthulu
The war goddess's warped and tainted mind. It does nothing but brood new ways to corrupt and spread farther, to take over more, to consume. It brings me great joy to see it bested.
The Eater of Worlds
A grand title, but a false one. This worm cannot eat so much as a piece of dirt, let alone a whole world. That does not mean it should be underestimated, as it is capable of burrowing through the ground with as much ease as you running.
The Perforators
The guts of the war goddess. It is beyond me why such a vile thing can gain sentience, but it seems that this... thing has. It seems to be partially up to the movement of the Crimson, trying to corrupt everything it can. But what it didn't know, was that it was spreading itself thin, until eventually, it could go no further, and would burst.
The Hive Mind
This is the core of the, well, hive mind in the Corruption. Every being in the Corruption responds to it, and it gives out orders that cannot be refused, even if it would endanger the lives of the corruption's beings. It was once the grand mind of the god of intellect.
Queen Bee
Surprisingly peaceful, considering where it lives. Once, villages grew around these hives, offering protection in exchange for honey and a place to live. The queens found this tradeoff acceptable, and they let humans live with them in harmony. It seems that Yharim has a great appreciation for the bees, as he takes great offense to those who deliberately harm them.
Skeletron
I pity the old man cursed with this ancient spell. A dark ritual, one of the many things that made me dislike the Dragon Cult. While they were great allies in the beginning, their methods put me off, as they felt unethical and terrible. I expressed these concerns, but they were put off by Yharim.
Slime God
One of the remaining gods, it balances its purity with beings made from the two evils. This makes me believe that Yharim trying to kill him was the wrong thing, but I was in no position to stop him. It fled many times, and an old cult once revered this being, believing that there was a way to make it a pure and perfect being. I highly doubt this.
The Underworld
It wasn't always covered in ash and dust. Once, it was a bustling city full of great craftsmen and sorcerers. The remains of this still stand strong to this day, despite the many years of decay. What caused her to awake is unknown, but it led to all that death, and the destruction of Azafure. A sad loss, but not unpredictably so.
Wall of Flesh
A deceptively strong being. Despite it being made of human flesh, it was made specifically so that it could contain the ancient spirits, as long as Azafure stood. As you can see, that was not very long. After Azafure fell, it grew out of control of everyone, and seems to have bonded with a clan of guides.
HARDMODE
Queen Slime
I must admit, the Slime God's tenacity is admirable. After you defeated it, it made this body from the newly released spirits and gems. It also seems that the Slime God has a stronger bond with the Hallow's purity, as he doesn't need to be there in order to control his creation.
Blood Moon
Once Fovos was sealed away in the moon, the moon became a center of strange phenomena. This is one of them. Some believe that the Crimson has managed to infect the moon, but that assumption is wrong. Fovos, in his nigh-godly strength has managed to make this horrific abomination, when the monsters of night fuse together into hateful flesh piles.
The Archmage
HE LIVES????? I KNEW IT! I KNEW THAT SHE WOULDN'T GO THROUGH WITH IT! Sorry for the outburst, but I knew Permafrost well, and I missed his guidance. Me and Cal both looked up to him with revere, as he was not only a great tactician, but also a peaceful being to balance out Yharim's more warlike tendancies.
The Twins
These two are forged by the souls of spies, wishing to continue their work even after death. Draedon made these bodies for that, their small forms perfect for maneuvering around. The two halves balance, one being focused on short range, the other on long range. The only issue I had with it was that if one fell, the other's weakness was easily exploitable.
Sulphur Sea
This sea has absorbed a lot of pollution from Azafure, which has caused the mutation of many beings that live there to adapt to the harsher conditions. Draedon has shown a lot of interest in this, as they were interesting products of evolution.
Aquatic Scourge
Once, these creatures lived in Ilmeris peacefully. After the incineration of it, some stayed there and became what you know as the "Desert Scourge", growing to be much more violent, while others fled to a safer place they could live. This one found its home in the Sulphur Sea, and still holds its peaceful ways, even in the incredibly hostile environment it has found itself in. That kind of tenacity is rare among creatures.
The Destroyer
I admire the Godseeker Knight's power, despite them technically responding to me, I found that they were fine off by themselves. They were the greatest soldiers, champions of the cause. Even after death, they wanted to feel the thrill of battle, so Draedon fashioned this body for them. Although personally, I would have used actual war equipment, instead of mining equipment.
Azafure
One of the greatest cities known to man, ruined in one night. Blacksmiths that could forge star matter into a weapon, merchants that carried almost every material you could ever need, gone. I mourn it every day, as I lost a bit of me there. I hope that someday, it may rise from the ashes, like Yharon did.
The Brimstone Elemental
One of the most important events at the start of the Crusades. I was in Azafure at the time, a young soldier ready to fight, trading with the Azafurians, when suddenly, she awoke. Everyone was excited, to see what she would do, but instead of being peaceful, she attacked. I watched the battle from afar, scared that I might die, until she came. Cal. She battled the Elemental, but since it is Brimstone against Brimstone, the only thing that came about was the destruction of Azafure, and the Brimstone Elemental fleeing. For now. I than found Cal and convinced her to come to Yharim, and the rest is history.
Skeletron Prime
Really, Draedon? I admire your weapon making skills and all, but really? All you did was take the Dragon Cult's curse, add two limbs, and called it a day. But that doesn't mean it isn't frightening, as it can tear through a town faster than a wildfire through a forest. Still, I have a heavy distaste for it.
The Mechanical Trio
These came about from Draedon looking at the Eye of Cthulu, Eater of Worlds, and Skeletron, and thinking that he could improve them. Even though it was one of his first projects with Yharim, he showed great prowess with machine building. Even though he deemed these as failures, they still are strong and of great use.
Calamitas Clone
A clone of Calamitas. Draedon, why? What need do you have of such a being? Regardless, it was found that she had no magical prowess, essentially proving that Cal's power is not genetic. However, this clone was broken out of containment by Calamitas herself, and after that, it seems that it gained a fraction of Calamitas's power. But even that was enough to drive her mad. Makes me think of the horrors Cal must endure every day...
Plantera
The people of the Jungle know more than I thought they did. They raised this plant with a special ritual, causing thousands of souls to be contained in it. Perhaps they thought it would help them, having the plant on their side, but it wasn't. Like the jungle it is wild and untamed, and the jungle's people found that out the hard way. Congratulations, though, as the spirits that have been released may be of use to you.
The Abyss
I have always loved the Abyss. It is serene and peaceful down there, for even though some of the creatures there can pierce through steel with their tentacles or teeth, they aren't aggressive. However, the environment there absolutely is. Silva's remnants made sure of that. Still, it holds grand treasure for those strong and brave enough to venture down to the bottom.
Leviathan and Anahita
Anahita is undeniably a beautiful singer. Her voice can manipulate water with incredible ease, and coax long forgotten beings out of their slumber. Perhaps the Leviathan is one of those beings, forgotten until Anahita found him. Or maybe she created him. Regardless, the two are absolutely inseperable! Reminds me of Yharim and Yharon's bond.
