PC Any tips for getting life crystals?

I've been looking around for about an in game month and haven't found one. Any tips?

Life Crystals are pretty common underground, have you searched deep enough?
Usually they should appear in a cave depth where the background is gray.

The Metal Detector will also detect Crystal Hearts within range. (If you've been lucky enough to encounter a Nymph and get one as a drop in your exploration.)

In addition to a metal detector, if you are able to get your hands on a few spelunker potions, that will also cause ore & treasures to glow for 5 mins. Because it also makes Life Crystals glow, it can make it easier to find them.
