Any tips on movement I can’t dodge (at all)

Hi I suck at dodging so i need help i was messing around with my hook in my skeleton arena and did something. I ran off the edge but saved my double jump and hooked back on to the side it was cool and I tried it in the fight but wasted my jump and died i have no sky islands and in post-skeletron please help.
