i have no idea what this is, i was fighting a pirate invasion with my last prism, i walk away, i walk back and that's there

If you mean the white part. It looks like a graphical flaw. Can't tell exactly what it's supposed to be. It seems to be emitting light too.

It looks like a cross with a cross on top that's slightly to the right, and some other symbol on that top cross.
Developers often put a big flashy texture/sprite/warning sign in their game and have the game show it when it can't find a texture/sprite.
This way the dev instantly knows he needs to fix something during playtesting. I wonder if that's what this is.

Are you using mods?

Just like ppowersteef said, its probably a graphical glitch
