Augmented TCF - A Chrome Extension & FireFox Add-on

While making a new thread, I noticed Custom emotes don't appear. The option only becomes available when responding to a post or when editing.
Ah, didn't think about that. Threads use the url "forums/*/create-thread" and I failed to consider that, so it's added in there now (along with any other functionality that applies to threads).

EDIT: Also when editing a profile comment, it asks you if you wish to leave the page when you try to confirm your edit.
Fixed! I'll send out 1.0.9 to fix this stuff now, so expect it to be public in about half an hour. Extensions update whenever chrome starts (iirc), or you can manually update them w/ "Update extensions now" button that is shown when dev mode is on.

THIS IS AMAZZZIIIINGNGNGNNGNG!!!!!!!

This is absolutely beautiful.

I'm very concerned; I tried adding all 20+ of my custom emotes but they don't show up on the "Custom" tab. It's empty (Yes, I did save)!. But that's not all(!); it appears that their link is being completely ignored, while imgur (presumably also other?) links are not being ignored. Maybe because of their unusually short lenght, or something related to the domain? Why are my links getting "banned" from the emote list, where they are valid image links? SUCH A MYSTERY. A (hopefully not impossible) suggestion:
Is there a chance that you can make a tiny edition menu appear when making a status or commenting on one? Possibly on the bottom of the screen or somewhere. Having things like emotes, bold-italics/underline, etc, in quick-access mode for statuses and comments would be very useful. People like me do use those often, regardless of lack of space! Specially since my emote links + img tags barely take up more than 20 characters total.

A minor suggestion:
I like using [JUSTIFY] tags. Similar to auto-color and auto-font tags in the settings, can you add auto-justify tags too? That'd be neat!

Also:
Oh my god oh my god oh my god PLEASE make a Firefox version because Chrome has issues reproducing gifs for me and I love gifs please

I have a little something in place to validate that all custom emotes are valid urls (to prevent the feature from being used as a auto-tag inserter, among other things). I guess that domain fails that test.

That said, tomorrow, after school, I'll make sure to find out why it's not passing the regex and fix it. Worse case, I need to remove the validation. Best case, I find the problem.

Since this is a slightly larger feature, expect this within a week, as opposed to just tomorrow, though I see the want for it and who am I to not satisfy that need/

I'd probably implement this as more of a "auto-tag-adder" than anything, though I don't really have a good idea of how to do so in a manner that I see as user-friendly. Rest assured, I will try my best to come up with some way to get this in there. No guarantees though, as this seems like a one-person feature, but that isn't reason to not try.

I figure I'll reply to this here, but I hope others see this too. (did the size work?)

[tl;dr at bottom]

I'm trying my best to get the most knowledge about firefox addons/extensions into my head, but they (from what I can tell) seem far more full of things a developer can play with, meaning there's a lot that needs to be provided. Not only do I have school which easily takes up half of 5 of the 7 days a week. Even then, I participate in various after-school activities-- some required, such as going to district for orchestra solo & ensemble, or voluntary, such as tutoring some people in math.

That said, school is easily the laziest reason I could give for not working on this extension. I get most, sometimes all, of my work done at school, leaving me with many days where I have a solid 6 to 8 hours (depends on how late I stay up :p) to do what I'd like. That includes working on this extension.

All in all, yes, I am working towards getting a firefox version up. While that is probably my biggest task right now, it's definitely possible. I have made 0 progress, with the exception of reading up on extensions. It's kinda like learning British-English if you come from the US; all familiar stuff (it's English!), but there's also some new stuff you need to get used to.

tl;dr I'm working on FireFox extension <3

Hopefully I can get some free time this week and try to port this to FF. No promises, but I want to try. Everest, if you ever get around to this, let me know and I'll try to help out. A tad busy, but I think it would be possible to do in a few days when I get the time.

I want for this to be on the tapia talk app.

Sorry for being an absolute noob. But how do I add custom emotes to the custom section?

Install the extension (assuming you've done that)
Go to your name. You'll see augmented TCF standing there, click it.
Then add the URLs of the images you want to add in the empty list. one for each line. And find the save button on the left

Ah, thanks.

Oh my gosh! This could be so helpful. I should download this. Yet I probably won't for some reason.

EDIT: Now I have to download this! I'm going to go do that! Soon.

Mouse over your name at the top, one of the options in the drop down menu is Augmented TCF, click that and you'll be able to edit all those settings there.

There should be a box under the Custom Emotes section of the settings. Simply right click the emote you want after uploading to pretty much any website (even TCF), and click copy image URL. Then paste it into the box in the settings using ctrl+v.

Well anyways using different links (no need for the shorter versions atm) I managed to get my emotes there. How truly magnificent.

@Everest: Yes. Yes to your entire reply. Yes yes yes. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this extension! You sure know what you're doing, too.

I don't think removing the lock would be too bad of an idea. Isn't it possible to just detect if the thing the text points to is an image or not? Like, if it can create an icon to display, then it's valid. Although with my basic knowledge of programming in general, I'm guessing that would be quite advanced.

Also, the next step for custom emotes would obviously be: multiple custom tabs, and the ability to name them! Or adding onto existing ones!!!

Of course you have a lot to do, both in real life and on the extension itself. In no way am I demanding something asap, so again, thank you, and take your time! Know that we're enjoying what you made

Custom Smilies: Allows you to add urls to images (one smilie/image per line). These images will show up under a "Custom" tab in the forum's text editor. They'll insert IMG BBCode containing the image.

I don't quite get how this works.

Once you have your Augmented TCF settings open, scroll down to Custom Smilies, paste the URLs of the images you want to use, and then click Save in the left-hand column.
