Weapons & Equip Ball and Chain: Defensive Post-Skeletron accessory best suited for summoners

The Ball and Chain is a Post Skeletron accessory that is found in the Dungeon Locked Chests, with a rarity of Green. It resembles a dark colored ball and chain with a leg shackle attached, like the ones prisoners had in the olden times.

The Ball and Chain is an accessory that offers 2 defense points, but it also keeps a giant ball and chain that drags behind your feet. It basically deals collison damage when it hits enemies. Faster movement increases this dealt damage. It is marked as summon damage.

The Ball and Chain, logically because it is heavy, slows down one’s horizontal movement by a fair and noticeable bit as a flaw. However, it increases vertical movement speed, especially downward. This can be to mixed effect; jumping can be a little hard to get used to since this thing weighs you down, but high heights can also be used to deal good damage with the ball and chain.

The Ball and Chain is a good item for auxillary defense in Pre-Hardmode, and is somewhat mixed in its performance in Hardmode. It is better used by summoners, since summoner boosts help this item, and the extra defense this item can give really helps the low armor points that most summoner sets bestow upon you. A good modifier to have for this item is Warding, for this purpose.

Tooltip: Places a damaging ball and chain behind you, Moving faster increases the damage

Should also cause a few percentage decrease in horizontal movement speed and a few percentage increase in vertical movement speed.

maybe it could have momentum phisics so when you move fast and stop it drags you also maybe it could be combined with any mace to make it more usefull

How much damage does this deal? Because it sounds pretty useless. It also conflicts with its own design, limiting its own damage by way of slowing you down unless you're specifically trying to hit something below you.

maybe it could be useable on mounts and adds the mount damage to the ball damage

Summoner is a class that revolves around constantly kiting to give its minions enough time to kill its enemies. Movement accessories are paramount, more important than they are on every other class in the game due to summoner having the lowest defense values in the game.

The fact that it inhibits your movement is already a critical flaw, 2 defense in no way makes up for the hit to the mobility, like just use an obsidian shield, or put warding on your accessories. But that's not the issue.

The main issue is that the attack function is borderline useless on summoner. You're being required to run at your enemies at high speeds as the squishiest class in the game to get the most out of it. Since you drag it behind you, this also means that you have to overshoot your target, such as jumping over a zombie, in order to get the ball to hit them at speed. So you need to run directly through your enemies to get value out of this. As a summoner. With like 13 defense.

This accessory doesn't seem to synergize with summoner at all. So is it useless?

No actually, because Slimy Saddle. Mounts ignore movement buffs and debuffs alike, so you wouldn't suffer decreased movement speed, and the extremely fast falling paired with the goomba stomp mechanic means that you can safely hit enemies with a very fast ball over and over again, combined with the damage from the goomba stomp itself.

Thanks for pointing out the flaws in this, like the others.

This idea is defunct, I see no reason to have it anymore

this seems like more of a melee item but i dont see why not have it
