PC Black screen on startup...

I have played terraria for many hours but recently whenever I start the game the splash screen appears and I can hear all of the mousing over options but the screen is completely black. I have done a bunch of research and none of the solutions I find work... i'm on windows 10, HELP

This is a common issue lately thanks to Discord. In order to play Terraria you will have to disable the Discord overlay

Recently Discord added an overlay to their app which doesn't work with Terraria or some other XNA games. This is a known Discord issue and has no workaround other than to disable it currently.
