NPCs & Enemies Bonus Boss Conditions

Something I was disappointed by when Journey's End came out was Queen Slime and Empress of Light not having achievements for defeating them. They do now but another thing I was hoping for was a reward for killing bosses a certain way. The closest thing currently in game is the Mecha Madness Achievement (tried that once, got the Destroyer down, then got burned to a crisp by Spazmatism). My idea was a bonus condition for each boss. If they're fulfilled, the boss drops a special item or maybe more of the loot it already drops, like it drops 150% of what it would otherwise drop or make the Trophy drop a 100% chance.

Not sure on what each boss bonus condition would be but here are the ones I've thought of (I may add some later):
King Slime: Kill him while none of his slimes are alive.
Eye of Cthulhu: Kill him within 30 seconds.
Eater of Worlds: Kill him without him splitting into more than one worm (don't kill any body segments, only head and tail).
Brain of Cthulhu: Kill him without taking damage.
Skeletron: Destroy his hands before destroying the head.
Queen Bee: Kill her outside of the Underground Jungle. (Suggested by Kirby737)
Wall of Flesh: Defeat him without damaging the eyes. (Suggested by Kirby737)
Queen Slime: Defeat her at night. (Suggested by Derpling Ω)
The Twins: Have both eyes become phase 2 before defeating either, then defeat them both.
The Destroyer: Kill him while all of his probes have been defeated. (Suggested by Kirby737)
Skeletron Prime: Destroy all arms before destroying the head.
Plantera: Defeat all of her destructible tentacles in phase 2 or defeat her outside the Underground Jungle (Enraged state).
Duke Fishron: ??? (Haven't beaten him yet, died multiple times)
Empress of Light: ??? (Only fought her once, got my a** kicked)
Golem: Defeat him while at least one hand is still intact.
Lunatic Cultist: Defeat him without hitting a single fake cultist.
Celestial Pillars: Defeat all four pillars without dying, teleporting (e.g. with a Magic Mirror) or leaving the world.
Moon Lord: ???

Didn't include Event Bosses (unless you class the Celestial Pillars as such) as they're technically Mini-Bosses, not full Bosses, they don't even have Achievements for defeating them (the achievements for beating the event don't count).

Lemme suggest a few:
Queen Bee: don't kill any of her bees or kill her outside of the Underground Jungle.
Wall of Flesh: defeat him without damaging the eyes.
The Destroyer: don't kill any of his probes or kill him while all of his probes have been defeated.
Empress of Light: kill her without wings.
Moon Lord: kill him without being hit.

Empress of Light already has one, the Terraprisma. (defeat her during the day, which causes her to gain so much damage that you die in one shot and have generally more difficult to dodge attacks)

For moon lord: I suggest beating him without teleporting or healing from the nurse. No rod of discord dodges here.

there is a major issue with this suggestion and its incentive everything must have a incentive but if you add a incentive here it creates pain and suffering as they have to attempt to beat these bosses FOLLOWING THESE CONDITIONS. it made sense for the eol to have a incentive for beating her during day aka the terraprisma which can actually be skipped making the day bossfight optional
Queen Bee: don't kill any of her bees or kill her outside of the Underground Jungle.
here you expect players to be able to kill the queen bee without killing any bees? the bigger challenge IS NOT HITTING THE BEES almost every weapon has a area of effect per say and this would require precision to do so with ranged. now beating her while she is enraged is definitely possible
King Slime: Kill him while none of his slimes are alive.
now if i'm correct the king slime spawns slimes every time he is damaged so in theory this is difficult to perform
Moon Lord: kill him without being hit.
unlike the empress of light the moon lord doesn't have any enraged behavior that results in instant kill attacks

there is nothing else to properly criticize here but this idea is just awful in general.

It was just an idea and the original post stated that the bosses could either drop more stuff or drop exclusive items when the conditions are fulfilled. I didn't add any special drop because I was only thinking about the conditions.

I never really expected players to do it, since it was only an Idea, and I expected it to not be perfect. I thought it would just have been "a bit" harder, though I can definitely see the issue here now.

Using piercing weapons already helps a bit since it already kills some of the slimes while hitting KS, also making KS jump high can help clear the area to kill the Slimes more easily. Though I don't know how we should consider the Slimes that spawn on death.

I thought of this as an Idea to give a bit more to do post-ML.

This was just an idea, jeez.

Let's look at the others though:

Wall of Flesh: defeat him without damaging the eyes.
I don't see any big issue with not hitting the eyes, except that it would make the fight a bit longer. Just make sure to not use Beenades.
The Destroyer: don't kill any of his probes or kill him while all of his probes have been defeated.
Not killing any Probe might be pretty hard, though killing all of the probes shouldn't be too hard since you have access to high velocity bullets at the Mech stage, which would help with killing the Probes.
Empress of Light: kill her without wings.
Thinking about it, this isn't a good idea. Also Derpling reminded me that EoL has already something like that.

King Slime: Kill him while none of his slimes are alive.
That's not very fun but I can't really think of anything better so I'll just suggest you try to think of something more dynamic than that.
Eye of Cthulhu: Kill him within 30 seconds.
That's a bit boring and basically is just "revisit this boss when you have stronger gear." I would make it so you just can't use hermes boots or their variants.
Eater of Worlds: Kill him without him splitting into more than one worm (don't kill any body segments, only head and tail).
Okay, that's a really good one. There isn't really anything else to be said about it.
Brain of Cthulhu: Kill him without taking damage.
How about instead it's "kill all the Creepers within the same span of 30 seconds". You can already very easily shred this boss with grenades in the first phase and just stunlock it with a minishark in the second one, so defeating it without taking damage is the kind of thing that might even happen unintentionally.
Skeletron: Destroy his hands before destroying the head.
This is just how the boss fight normally goes. I'd say the reverse is harder, especially with how much more defense the head has while the hands are alive in expert mode.
Queen Slime: ??? (Maybe the same as King Slime, haven't found a Gelatin Crystal yet)
Defeating her at night makes most of her projectiles much nastier and harder to see.
The Twins: Have both eyes become phase 2 before defeating either, then defeat them both.
Good one, actually! Spazmatism is the smaller threat, so usually I kill him first so I can focus on the twin that can actually hit me occasionally. This would make that fight much more fun.
Skeletron Prime: Destroy all arms before destroying the head.
Again, this is just how the fight normally goes. However, defeating this guy during the day is incredibly hard as it's basically a dungeon guardian with almost triple the health, so maybe... do something with that?
Plantera: Defeat all of her destructible tentacles in phase 2 or defeat her outside the Underground Jungle (Enraged state).
Enraged Plantera is super fun so that's probably fine.
Golem: Defeat him while at least one hand is still intact.
Actually, yes. The hands are the only part of that fight that's a real threat, and normally they don't even matter because you can just knock them away. This fixes that.
Lunatic Cultist: Defeat him without hitting a single fake cultist.
This actually makes the fight easier as the phantasm dragon is no longer a concern and his attacks become less elaborate. I suppose this would be nice for teaching people just how easy it is to see the difference, though.
Celestial Pillars: Defeat all four pillars without dying, teleporting (e.g. with a Magic Mirror) or leaving the world.
That's boring again. Here's my ideas for improvement.
Solar Pillar: defeat it without touching the ground.
Nebula Pillar: defeat it without receiving the Obstructed debuff.
Vortex Pillar: defeat it without getting hit by a lightning portal.
Stardust Pillar: Don't let more than 10 adult star cells be on the screen at one time.
Wall of Flesh: defeat him without damaging the eyes.
The issue with this is that there's not really a way to track that specifically. I personally would make the condition summoning him within <50 blocks of the center of the world. Think about it, if you do that you need to defeat him fast before he rams you against the side of the world and kills you in one shot.
Queen Bee: don't kill any of her bees or kill her outside of the Underground Jungle.
Killing her outside of the underground jungle sounds both more fun and less circumventable. You could just use the Daedalus Bloodbow and never have to worry accidentally hitting the bees, so let's not allow for cheese that major.
The Destroyer: don't kill any of his probes or kill him while all of his probes have been defeated.
How about making it so you just can't use piercing or area-of-effect weapons? That's the only reason that boss isn't difficult.

instead of defeating lunatic cultist without hitting any fakes, just make it so you have to hit all the fakes when he goes into a ring.

Oh well, if you can't track which part was damaged then yours works too.

Yea, trying not to kill her bees can be a pain, so let's stay with fighting her enraged form.

How about fighting him in the Underground/Cavern layer? Another reason for the non-difficulty of the fight is, in my opinion, that it is usually fought on the Surface, which means it can't attack you from all directions. Though the Probes might be quite the annoyance.

basically clear a large area of the underground. now that i think about it mecha bosses legit already have a challenge but its fighting all three at once kinda thing

what i meant when i said this is that your not actually providing any ideas for items so essentially your not giving a idea for the reward per say. Achievements i don't believe are viable as it would just add a excessive amount of them.

You could, but at that point you would save time by creating a death chamber filled with traps on the Surface. Either way you can't really remove chesse from most bosses (Worm bosses and KS as an example). The mechs already do, but it's for all 3 of 'em, not just one.

That makes sense, so lemme give 'em rewards:

Queen Bee: drops Hives on death + 200% of normal loot (she's the second-most boss for drops, we already have enough of them).
WoF: drops "Piece of Hunger" which allows you to craft any of WoF's drops + 3 others: Wings of Famine, crafted with souls of Flight and a piece of Hunger, a pair of wings a tier above those available at the start of Hardmode; Cristalized Greed, crafted with 8 of every gem, a rock golem head and a Piece of Hunger, an accessory that increases drop rates of every monster defeated (with maybe a few exceptions), rarer items are affected more; The Hunger, crafted with a Piece of Hunger and 10 souls of night, a weapon which deals damage of the type of your armor, and if your armor is neutral enough, it will default to the strongest buff, and if that isn't available it will deal non class-damage, it is trown and once it latches on an enemy it will begin to deal continuos damage, while constantly lowering the enemy's defense with a rate of 1 defense a second.

The Destroyer: Drops the Probe Launcher, a weapon which as the name says launches friendly Kamikaze Probes that will try to crash into the nearest enemy or the targeted one (you can make your probes aim at a certain enemy in the same way as summoners can do, though only while holding the Launcher), while shooting lasers at them, and if they make contact they will explode. It can either use any of the Empty Ammo bullets, or Rockets (they deal more damage than the empty ammo bullets, while always retaining the effects of the former but not the liquid creation or the tile destruction of the rockets, though the cluster rockets will create a secondary :red:ed explosion).

Moon Lord: Drops the Moon Emblem, which increases all damage done by the player by 15%. Not the craziest accessory, but I think it is a nice reward for whatever challenge you did with ML.

I didn't give any hard numbers because I don't think I will be able to make it balanced.

maybe we should just stick to pets and vanity perhaps the master mode pets?
I think we should give functional drops to rival the Terraprisma. They don't have to be as powerful as that one but they should still be worthwhile.

fight all bosses at the same time. (eow/boc don't count as you cant really fight both at a time) must be done at the hollow at night.
event is started using medallion of idiocy
tooltip:you shouldn't use this.

gives you the anarchy achievement

are you even sure this is possible maybe something like calamity's boss rush yes but like think about it you have to summon plantera moon lord duke fishron golem and basically every boss at once. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PERFORM AS YOU HAVE TO SUMMON EACH ONE WITH SOME HAVING A UNIQUE SUMMONING METHOD.

I may have forgotten that King Slime spawns Slimes as he dies. I also didn't know about the Terraprisma, guess I haven't read the wiki enough. And I don't usually kill any of Skeletron Prime's arms (except maybe the saw that's always on me). Skeletron, I usually only kill the arms to mess with him; kill the arms and stare at him as he hovers like a lost child and only occasionally attacks. Still, that's with late-hardmode gear while making spare worlds for fun. As for the amulet of idiocy, I can imagine me using that... then dying in ten seconds. 😆

Ooh, speaking of combining stuff from each boss (or related to each boss), how about if the conditions are met, they drop a weapon. Each boss has a similar yet different weapon all with the same low damage, but you can combine them to upgrade it? Maybe they have 4 weapons each based on the four classes and which weapon they drop is dependent on the damage type that dealt the killing blow. 🤔
True story, I thought the Wall of Flesh's emblems worked like that as the first time I killed it (with a minishark), it dropped a Ranger Emblem. Turns out, that was just a coincidence. 😅
