Hi everyone,
I’m having a really frustrating issue trying to host a multiplayer world in Terraria on my Xbox Series S. Whenever I try to host a world, I get the error: “Session could not be created.” This has been happening for quite a while now.
My setup: Xbox Series S connected via LAN cable, NAT type is Open (consistently), all required ports have been forwarded manually on my Telekom Speedport Hybrid router, and the Xbox network shows both IPv4 & IPv6 active. UPnP doesn’t seem to work on this router model, which is why I manually forwarded the ports (UDP 88, 3074, 500, 3544, 4500; TCP 3074, 80, 53, 500, etc.). I’ve tested both manual and automatic IP settings on the Xbox. I’ve also confirmed that the NAT type stays open even after restarts. The strange part is: when I use a different network, like a mobile hotspot, I can host without any problem. So it’s clearly something with my home network or the router. I posted about this in the official Terraria Discord, but no one there could really help or had the same issue.
What I’m looking for: Has anyone experienced this issue with hybrid LTE/DSL routers like the Telekom Speedport Hybrid? Are there any hidden or extra port ranges Terraria needs for console multiplayer? Would disabling IPv6 completely make a difference? Or is this a known bug on the console version? I’d really appreciate any ideas or advice. I’ve spent hours trying to fix this and just want to play with my friends again.
Thanks in advance – Leon
