PC Can I get the Golfer NPC if my world was created before 1.3?

I want to complete the Bestiary in my main world, and to do that, I will need to get the Golfer NPC, which is the last one I need before the Princess NPC can appear. However, my world was created before 1.3 came out, so I don't have a natural underground desert biome. Is there a way to artificially create one so that the Golfer will spawn there?
