Xbox Series S/X Cannot join a friend

I have one friend and neither of us can join each other on Terraria, but we can both play with other people on it. Whenever we try to join each other, it just gives us 10 seconds of connecting to say “failed to join”. The only way I can play with him is if I join on a hotspot, but I can play with him normally on other games like Fall Guys, Titanfall 2, Dead by Daylight, and State of Decay 2 We’ve done everything like powercycling our routers and xboxs, but nothing seems to fix the issue. We both play on Series X and I even tried to switch to my old Xbox One S and join, but with the same result.

I am also having this issue, I bought two friends a copy of terraria and am pretty disappointed to find this issue... Let alone a month after your post and no developer has even mentioned anything...
