Can't build a straight wall out of woods?

Hello,

I recently got Terraria and now i Kind of have a small Problem. Everytime i try to build a straight wall out of the Wood i harvested It automatically makes a Row of four Wood pieces... Why is that so?

Hit the control button and try again, it toggles smart cursor on and off.

I have the same problem but I’m on console. The game only lets me place wood on the side of the block.
