Weapons & Equip Change control scheme for antigravity hook

What control scheme is best for the antigravity hook, in your opinion?

When I first got the antigravity hook, I thought I would be able to precisely set my direction. Unfortunately, the way the controls for it are set out, you can pretty much only select 8 directions. I think this should be changed. In my opinion, A and D should rotate the player counterclockwise and clockwise, respectively. This should happen at a predetermined speed with no acceleration, similar to the static hook.
 
This would make things confusing when you're hooked at the surface or at the ceiling. There will always be an opposite direction you'll have to face on either. That doesn't happen with the current setup.
