Sprites Changing textures depending on the season

Good idea, for a special seed. I wouldn't want to have to play in the summer to have my green grass and leaves, though, so I wouldn't like it as a forced change.
There could probably be a toggle in the Settings for "Seasons"

There are currently two events in Terraria that occur depending on the time on the player's computer: Halloween and Christmas.
Maybe it would be possible to make the grass and trees change their textures depending on the time on the computer too? In autumn, yellow, golden leaves. In winter, slightly covered with snow.

I think it adds a nice atmosphere to the game, and it looks so cool...

Aalso, if someone suddenly doesn’t want to play with such textures, there is an option to turn them off in the settings.

Below are some examples using some textures from the steam workshop:

I LOVE THE IDEA:joy::pinky::gslime::bluslime::yslime::pslime::bslime::islime::lslime::cslime::sslime::rslime::hoppinjack::kingslime::redspin::redmunch::red::red2:

They used to have two seasonal bosses on legacy edition and old mobile: Lepus the giant evil Easter bunny, and Turkor the Ungrateful which was a reanimated roast Thanksgiving turkey. I hated Lepus, and never got to play with Turkor, so I’m not really sure if they would be the best. I also hear that the devs are adverse to adding legacy features to the current game, so this suggestion might be irrelevant.

I'm not talking about bosses, but about the textures of grass and foliage

I didn't like these bosses too

I like all of this. Maybe still keep the Halloween/Christmas specific things at their times, but the textures yearlong would be nice.
Maybe Spring could have more regrowth-esque things going on? For example, trees with less leaves, but still green? Patches of green grass? Patches of snow?

not complaining, but I think the overhaul mod did something similar to this

A really cool idea, maybe just for a day after Frost/Pumpkin Moon + Secret Seeds? I wouldn't like to have 3 months of the same season.

good! that should be in the vanilla game

also, note that 52% of players don't even own the desktop version let alone play mods
I agree, in my opinion this is a great idea for an original game without mods

That's also part of the reason I (not first, I don't think but somewhere at the beginning) asked for a skyblock seed: to give console and mobile players that experience

Unless they were crazy and dug out a whole world just to play skyblock

yeah, though mobile has access to maps

The only reason I'm hesitant to get onboard with adding Seasons, visually to Terraria, is that the World seems to have much different rules than a spherical-shaped planet like our own.

For example, there's both a Jungle and Desert Biome on opposing sides of the "World", with a thriving Forrest Land in the center, yet no Prairie or Savanna [then Steepes] to be found in-between extremes - to suggest that World-Biome-placement [planetary rotation] has some meaningful effect on the environment. That being the case, Terraria is likely... a Terrarium, more than anything else, where each Biome exists by some "artificial", magical or "physical laws" outside of our own Universe.

In addition, what extreme is Hallow or the World Evils, and what extreme is Jungle with no Swampland? Once you start applying 'our' planetary rules to Terraria, you might as well just make a Second Game and start from scratch. 🧐 🤷‍♀️

I like this idea, but I also feel that adding snow on the ground may blur the lines between forest and tundra biomes.
