  1. Character creation in Tales is handled similar to other RPs, but with some added or missing parts. Anything marked with asterisks are not necessary for application, but will impact certain aspects of your character and your experience and roleplay. Parts can be subtracted if you wish to not implement them to your character.

  2. Base Values

If you choose to not implement certain parts of the application into your character, they will be subject to a base value. Base values are not bad, but they lack some bonuses that other characters have.

    • Classes
      • If you do not include a class, you can not receive training and or quests from mentors within the RP unless you pay. Lessons are free unless you are not a member of the class's order.
      • Stats
        • By default all stats are twenty -> if you opt to subtract stats from your app. And you can allocate fifty points, as each stat has a cap of 39 if you choose to have stats.
[[ Again. By default all stats are 20 if you choose to not have stats. Like Raina(Bure). Everyone else starts at the racial standard, listed on the race page.]]
    • Perks
      • Perks are small stat bonuses that can affect your character. You can have three of them that can influence up to five points.
    • Bags and Equipment
      • If you choose to not have bags or equipment, do not fret, you will get gear eventually in the RP.
    • Learned and Earned Assets
      • It is futile to remove these. You will have to learn something or earn merit eventually.

  3. Tidbit Definitions

Some fields of the application process are not apparently ready to be filled out, and this is a guide to help you complete said fields.

    • Perks - Small stat bonuses that can influence up to five points of a stat.
    • Merit - Merit is a sort of key that will get you certain privileges in certain circles. They are like achievements that your character can herald as a trophy to get places.
    • Alchemy - Alchemy is the section where you state what recipes you have, whether they be for food, potions or poisons.

  4. Additional Guidance From Techno

Alright. The history and synopsis section greatly mirror each-other. You synopsis will often sum up your history, personality and accomplishments in the synopsis, while you elaborate on them in the history and personality sections. Perks are like traits in TI, but they can add or subtract 5 points from your stats. They can be simple things to gauge your personality and skills, or they can influence your stats by giving you up to the up to five extra points to spend on stats. Stats are elementary, but they do help. There is no rolling of dice like in TI and other RPs with stats, but every value is based off of a 10-50 scale. around 10 points is basic understanding or ability for that stat, while around 20 is above average, 30 is superior and 39 (For non-NPC's) is a near complete mastery and control over the stat and it's influences. NPCs have a base stat count of 20, but some have several stats at 50.

The bags, equipment, magic, crafts and alchemy sections are optional fields that can add extra abilities and/or items to your starting experience. You can start with *reasonable* magics and/or equipment to match your character's style of fighting or life. You can of course take out all optional fields and turn your character into a story driven avatar, which will not impact your campaign as much as you think; but still has specific ties to certain things that may be barred from you, such as needing a class to train, or having a specific flow count to resist magic and mist.

Merit is an odd, almost useless field, but it has pull as well. Merit is almost like a premium thing that you can only achieve on Regnum. Merit is a list of tasks, challenges, and achievements you can do or have done; merit is sort of like a "quest tracker" if you will.

  5. Informal Guidance With Techno, As Well As A NEW Application Process

More guidance from ME, TechnoSpectre 0-85.5-CTX-09.857{Beta}.

    • Stats

By default all stats are 20 if you choose to not have stats. Like Raina(Bure). Everyone else starts at the racial standard, listed on the race page. This has been at the heart of controversy alongside the class system for quite a long time. IT hath finally been fixed. After this post, there will be an entirely new application process. Old characters do not need to change to this, unless they have errors that need to be resolved.

Classes. The sort of heart of this. I have opted to subtract combo classes from the RP, as they were overly complicated, and nobody ever used/understood them. In place of them there will be nothing more than probably a few new doodads for newer members.

And without further adieu, the new(er) app process.

Anything marked with a star can be removed at your leisure, while anything with a carrot is new, and is optional to add to characters existing before the date of 1/26/15.
