Items Clentaminator could use an update, or a buff

The Clentaminator is a fine tool for slowing down the spread of Corruption/Crimson/Hallow, but with it costing 2 Platinum Coins just to purchase, and the solutions that it requires costing 15 Silver coins each, it essentially makes dealing with the evil biomes a massive money sink more than anything. Without raising the Steampunker's happiness whatsoever, that means that only 7 solutions can be purchased per gold coin, which seems obscenely expensive given how little that amount would actually be able to push back the Corruption/Crimson/Hallow. The amount of money that would actually need to be spent for the Clentaminator to actually be able to remove an evil biome from an infected biome is so expensive, that it is typically more effective to partially or entirely destroy infected biomes as opposed to trying to actually cleanse them of said evil biome. There are a couple ways that this could probably be dealt with, solution could be made cheaper, the Clentaminator could get more range or an increased area of effect similar to the Terraformer, and although, I highly doubt this will ever happen, the rate at which evil biomes spread in Hardmode could be reduced. I don't want to have to destroy parts of my world because the Corruption or Crimson enter my Desert or my Jungle, but because of how expensive it is to actually use the Clentaminator effectively, and also because of the rate at which biome spread occurs within the Desert, I am essentially left with no other choice. I apologize for creating such an incredibly long post, over something that probably doesn't matter a lot, but still, I think it would be nice to see the Clentaminator become a more worthwhile tool given the amount of money that is needed to acquire and use it. Thank you for reading this, and have a great day!

In Terraria, getting money is not a problem and you can easily get it in huge amounts.

My point is that I shouldn't have to sink multiple Platinum Coins worth of money into cleansing the Crimson or Corruption. If Solution was cheaper, or the Clentaminator was more effective this wouldn't be as big of a problem. Also, how easy it is to make money is dependent on difficulty. Generally, players who play on lower difficulties will earn money less efficiently. This game already has enough money grinding, and I shouldn't have to grind out money for multiple hours in order to afford to cleanse parts of my world. You seem to be missing the point of this post.

If the Biome spread has gotten bad enough that you need to keep it away from your NPCs, you should just plant 80 Sunflowers and the housing will remain valid, even if it's corrupted.

To be honest, whole affair with cleansing my world is scaring the heck out of me.
Because of whole 'use some unintuitive tool with unintuitive range and really costy ammo. And if you missed 1 (one) block - start from scratch or git gud' design.
I'm eager to pay 1 Gold per cleansed tile - even more maybe - if cleansing tool would gonna be easy to use.
Like, instead of blowing my money in that general direction with uncertain result, implement something like this usage scenario:

Draw your Clentaminator.
Point it at some tile.
Left click: the thing would gonna count tiles which are:
1. Sharing biome type with selected one (Corruption/Crimson/Hallow/Jungle/Whatever) and
2. Contigous with selected tile.
I. e. if I'm pointing at Crimstone block - I want to know exact size of whole Crimson spreading blob.
Right click: paint WHOLE BLOB with Solution if there's enough solution in inventory - beep and ask for more Solution otherwise.
TADA! No need to dig worldwide network of useless tunnels just to make sure that everything is cleansed!

If, by any chance, the blob is huge enough so cleansing cost goes well above 5-10 Platinum, then it's probably enough to give the player rough estimation (and to use roughly estimated Solution count - but clean the blob precisely) on blob size estimation attempt. Just to avoid destroying low-end computers by making too many estimation attempts. The game does hiccup on trying to view all Crafting made with Wood through Guide on my computer already...

If you want And Good Riddance, I recommend bringing an endgame character with Terraformer and Biome Sight onto a Pre-Hardmode world and cleansing that.

If i'd wand And Good Riddance, I'd use some world from Workshop and call it a day.

I want not being annoyed by the necessity to look for That Goldern Single Block Which Spreaded Corruption Again And Ruined My Precious Golf Course Design At Least Appropriate Time AAAARGH!!!~~~

The amount of effort I need to put into it without resorting to Journeyman world is currently obnoxious.

Not so much.
Especially on classic mode, you'll kill Plantera faster (geez, most bosses there, including Plantera, can just be tanked), which means you'll reduce the rate of spreading biomes.

Yet again, my point is that I shouldn't have to sit down wasting my own time to grind out money. My point isn't that it's necessarily difficult to contain the Crimson or Corruption (except for the Desert, the rate of spread there is ridiculous), but rather my problem is the amount of time and money that I have to waste trying to deal with evil biomes, when said time and money could be used elsewhere. The fact that bosses can be farmed for money doesn't solve this issue, because I'm still wasting time and resources trying to farm out money for something that is unnecessarily expensive. The initial cost of the Clentaminator is 2 platinum coins, which is in no way cheap. If the item is that expensive, then I should be able to use it for a relatively low-cost, but instead I have to spend much, much more money to make an item that I have already sank plenty of money into useful. I could be spending all of the money that I spend on cleansing my world for Reforging my gear instead, but because I don't want to have to destroy my world to contain the Crimson or Corruption, I am forced to waste what little spare money I have left. It isn't exactly cheap to Reforge high tier items, especially not when I'm playing with other players. The Clentaminator is underpowered for how expensive it is, and no amount of farming money can change that.

Terraforming isn't supposed to be cheap. However, I usually have more than enough money for Clentaminator and further containment of evil.

Exactly. Reforging high level items is much more expensive, and if you have to farm money, it's for reforging.
At the same time, there are very few really expensive items in Terraria.

The current system is fine. If you're worried about missing one, I believe an evil sense potion is being added in the next update if it hasnt already.

The potion is already available in game, however you can still miss a spot even when used with Terraformer, I know something about it cause I've had to deal with 1% Crimson and 1% Hallow twice on my worlds.

I really don't understand how you telling me that I should grind out money in order to make the Clentaminator useful proves that the Clentaminator isn't an unnecessarily massive money sink, but whatever. I already spend enough time grinding things such as the Biome Keys, snd Souls, and yes, even money. You seem to think that my point that using the Clentaminator is obscenely expensive is invalid because YOU are willing to waste multiple hours grinding out bosses for money. The fact that "Terraforming is supposed to be expensive" is a stupid argument, because it is so insanely expensive that compared to other solutions, such as destroying infected parts of my world, using the Clentaminator is nowhere near as effective. You don't seem to understand that already with the 2 Platinum Coin price for the Clentaminator, just about any other possible method of halting the Crimson or Corruption is more cost-effective. It is quite literally more cost-effective for me to take a Missile Launcher and create 4000+ Mini Nukes and destroy any part of my world that has Crimson or Corruption in it. The fact that "Terraforming is expensive" doesn't make it a good system, instead it makes a completely unviable system when compared to any other method of dealing with Crimson or Corruption. Saying that I should farm out money to make the Clentaminator effective doesn't do anything but prove my point that the Clentaminator is a money sink.

but rather my problem is the amount of time and money that I have to waste trying to deal with evil biomes, when said time and money could be used elsewhere.
Then do precautions in pre-Hardmode like making barriers and making it easier for yourself. If you want to spend less money you're going to have to spend more time, I think that is a fair system. If you'd rather put your time and money elsewhere then don't worry about spread, it's not a big deal and can very much be managed with some holy water instead of buying a Clentaminator.

If the item is that expensive, then I should be able to use it for a relatively low-cost, but instead I have to spend much, much more money to make an item that I have already sank plenty of money into useful.
Well the game has multiple, multiple ways to bring costs down, again if you wanna save money then you should invest more time into other things like the Discount Card or NPC Happiness, I don't see the need of bringing down the solution since it is already at a very low cost when you include these things.

I could be spending all of the money that I spend on cleansing my world for Reforging my gear instead, but because I don't want to have to destroy my world to contain the Crimson or Corruption, I am forced to waste what little spare money I have left.
Surely reforging your gear doesn't waste as much platinum, also you're not forced. Game doesn't force you to cleanse crimson/corrupt nor does it force you to waste your money. You are forcing yourself. Someone has already suggested about sunflowers being able to let NPCs live in corrupted biomes, each sunflower can negate 40 tiles of corruption for housing purposes. I do a lot of playthroughs, and a lot of the time I don't feel like cleansing or maintaining corruption so my solution is to just spread holy water at important areas like the jungle and aether then I just don't worry about it, desert pylon corrupted? Sunflowers.

It really isn't underpowered, If anything it's underutilized.

Yes the Biome Sight Potion has been added and if you miss a spot you should easily be able to see it. You can use items like Binoculars or Sniper Scopes to get better views. If you have 1% then try relogging your worlds since Dryad updates in an interval of 30mins or just by relogging. I would also look for any thorns that might have been forgotten.

The benefit of Clentaminator is that you don't blow up your world in the process of cleansing.

The current system is fine. If you're worried about missing one, I believe an evil sense potion is being added in the next update if it hasnt already.
My problem isn't with missing blocks, it's more with the amount of money that has to be tossed down the drain to make the Clentaminator useful at all. I'm willing to bet that anyone who has used the Clentaminator can agree on the fact that the Clentaminator truly isn't worth the money in its current state.

I have in fact used both Biome Sight Potion and Binoculars to make the whole process easier, but I was still facing a problem to find the remaining corruption / hallow.
I also always do the relog, but I still miss some parts of the corruption. I have already done 100% purification on some of my worlds, it's just a pain in the :red: to do it.

Well I don't think Red intended getting the achievement to be pretty easy

I agree, the whole process is not only a money sink, but a big time consuming project, not only because how long it will take you to cleanse all of the corruption and hallow but you can always miss a spot and then have to redo the process.
I think they should atleast reduce the price of both Clentaminator and solutions, so that they are easier to obtain without that much farming, as the process itself already takes a long time to do, and I'm talking from the perspective of a guy, who always does some kind of corruption separation, so that it doesn't spread that much, not to mention the time you need to put when corruption is freely spreading.
Also, the aftermath of purifications is sometimes.. painful to look at.

I can only really speak on behalf of the money sink, while I do playthroughs where I purify my world I do not dig often. I usually put the time into getting the Rod of Discord then I will purify the world. I did some in-game testing and I genuinely do not see the money sink if you invest time into making the prices cheaper

pair this with easy to obtain buffs that reduce ammo cost and you can easily make that solution last, testing it with 5 platinum resulted in 5555 solution

The most that is done to contain the spread of Crimson or Corruption at the start of the game are the Sunflowers placed on the outskirts. If my options are to either waste multiple hours of my time digging hellevators to prevent the spread of Crimson or Corruption, or to waste tons of money to contain the spread of Crimson or Corruption, then the system is not very well balanced. I should not be forced into choosing whether or not I want to waste my time or my resources in order to keep my world looking nice. Terraforming can be expensive, while not being so expensive that it is completely unviable without having to grind out tons of money.

The theoretical lowest cost of solution is roughly 9 Silver, with maximum happiness, and the Discount Card. Getting the Discount Card typically requires a lot of grinding, so it isn't exactly a consistent or reliable means of reducing the cost of solutions. Even with the theoretical lowest cost, roughly 11 solution per gold coin is still quite expensive.
Surely reforging your gear doesn't waste as much platinum, also you're not forced. Game doesn't force you to cleanse crimson/corrupt nor does it force you to waste your money. Reforging gear such as the Terrablade, Frozen Shield, Eventide, Nightglow, and Starlight aren't exactly cheap at all. Terrablade in specific allows roughly 3 reforges per Platinum Coin. Reforging actually good gear is incredibly expensive if you want good effects.

Following your point about ignoring the spread of Corruption or Crimson, if you are trying to argue that the best way to deal with the system of Biome Spread is to ignore it, then it obviously isn't a good system at all.
It really isn't underpowered, If anything it's underutilized.
Past unnecessarily expensive biome cleansing, it is only useful for artificial biome creation, which can already be done by placing infected blocks into an isolated biome.
Yes the Biome Sight Potion has been added and if you miss a spot you should easily be able to see it. You can use items like Binoculars or Sniper Scopes to get better views. My problem isn't with missing blocks, my problem is with the amount of money that has to be used to get a sufficient amount of solution is far too much without hours of money grinding. Thoroughly cleaning out the Crimson or Corruption requires far too much solution.
The benefit of Clentaminator is that you don't blow up your world in the process of cleansing.
I understand that this is the benefit of the Clentaminator, it would just be nice if I could enjoy this benefit without having to spend an obscene amount of money, or waste multiple hours of my time.
