Hello Terraria Community! My name is Casey, and welcome to my Compendium of Chaos!
You might be wondering about the title of this thread. You see, I've spent the better part of a month tinkering with a great deal of ideas, and putting everything in one thread would be a bad idea.
So, this is to be a series of posts, with the connected title: Compendium of Chaos.
Part 1: Mech-Boss Madness contains ideas regarding weapon drops and proper Expert Mode accessories.
The weapon drops from each boss follow a theme, which is included in their respective sections down below.
The Twins
Accessory: Cursed Lens
20% increased projectile velocity
Your attacks inflict Cursed Inferno
Definitely different compared the compared the item dropped by their pre-hardmode counterpart, but seemed fun. Based on the Twins' own behavior, in a way, so go rain green fire on your foes!
Weapon Drops
Theme: Blessings and Curses
Optic Staff
Yes, the Optic Staff everyone knows and loves! I do suggest maintaining its ability to crafted, as it provides an option for acquiring the item without the need for boss farming.
Tyrfing
Sword
Creates extended-range slashes when swung (Perhaps akin to Arkhalis and Terragrim, but larger, and slower?)
Inflicts Cursed Inferno on hits.
Occasionally inflicts Cursed Inferno on the user.
Perhaps not everyone's favorite idea to have a weapon that also hurts the user, but I was drawing on mythology, and this sword is known to be both blessing and curse, so it seemed a fitting addition.
Twin Gods' Bow
Bow
Fires fast-moving arrows in a straight line. Arrows may occasionally be Gold or Silver.
Gold arrows inflict Ichor onto enemies.
Silver arrows grant the user Regeneration on a hit.
There was no better inspiration to draw from than the twin gods Artemis and Apollo. My research wasn't terribly deep (thank you Wikipedia), but these two supposedly used similar silver bows, and each had their own enchanted arrows; Artemis' inflicting death and disease, and Apollo's granting health.
Malediction
Spell Tome
Creates a spinning ring of curse runes around the cursor.
These runes deal magic damage on contact with enemies, and occasionally release copies which seek out enemies.
The inspiration here comes from Vampire Survivors, and the Unholy Vespers weapon. If you've played it, you probably know what I'm going for here.
The Destroyer
Accessory: Mechanical Plating
10 Defense
Grants 10% Damage Reduction, and immunity to knockback
Not sure if this is a shield, or maybe something you just strap to your back, or what. But it's big, heavy, and very protective!
Weapon Drops
Theme: Creatures and Animals
Megashark
Everyone loves a good shark, especially a big one! I do suggest maintaining its ability to crafted, as it provides an option for acquiring the item without the need for boss farming.
Worm on a Chain
Flail
Flail head is a mini Destroyer.
Occasionally fires lasers.
What happens when you combine a worm on a string with a heavy, metal worm? This, of course!
Wild Talons
Magic Weapon
Creates magical talon slashes at the cursor's location.
These increase in frequency the longer the weapon is used.
Wasn't really sure what kind of magic weapon to make this one. Maybe it's some fancy magic gloves? Slash those foes to bits!
The Snapper
Whip
Strong, but slow.
Inflicts Broken Armor on hit.
Snapping turtles are fun creatures. Wind 'em up and watch them go with extreme force.
Skeletron Prime
Accessory: Prime Technology
Launches bombs and fires lasers at enemies while you are attacking.
Thought it would be fun to take the concept from Skeletron's Bone Glove and level it up. Now YOU can be the Prime Instrument!
Weapon Drops
Theme: Technology
Flamethrower
As with the other two, wanted to get the core soul-crafted weapon in here. I do suggest maintaining its ability to crafted, as it provides an option for acquiring the item without the need for boss farming.
Saw Blade/Chainsword
Sword/Chainsaw
Has a unique attack combo of two slashes (down, then up) followed by sawing.
150% axe power
What's a better showcase of technological advancement than combining everyone's favorite bladed implements? Couldn't decide on which name would be better though.
The Big One
Magic Gun
Fires a large, slow moving plasma orb which damages enemies near it and explodes on impact.
"That's one Big Freaking Gun."
Technology and "BFG" are basically synonymous. Huge guns for the win!
Forward Operator
Sentry
Summons a stationary artillery cannon to fire upon your foes.
Artillery is fun, right? Designate a point, and blast it! Simple, right? Well, not in really life, but this is a game, so have fun with it!
