Mobile Controller support guide

I was wondering if anybody could help with a problem involving the controller support, I connected a ps4 controller to my phone via Bluetooth but for some reason when I open the terraria app I am unable to use the controller. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong or if I need to do something specific to get it working.
