Y'know, actually... Cream Starlight is directly based off Frisk when I first created her as Alternative Frisk, and has most of their abilities and things. Though, now, many of the abilities and things have gone, or might have been replaced with something more original, the attribute that she has an Undertale-styled soul remains.
Cream's soul is heart-shaped (as
) and is around the size of her fist (like average human heart). It has two colors which occupies its left and right - left is red, and right is magenta. I used to say that red stands for determination and magenta stands for hope, but here in Limbo, the colors' just colors, they doesn't really indicate anything. Extra info: it can be used as a light source.
The soul is extremely weak, that if it takes an attack roll above 12, it'll shatter, and you get a dead Cream. However, resurrection is also possible if you can mend her soul shards together and have her body in a relatively good state. She might lose some memory, though.
The brightness of the soul glow indicates Cream's health and mood.
Cream can let her soul out of her body at her will. If the soul is more than 30 meters away from her, though, she'll get unconscious until the soul either flies into her or is put into her chest.
When the soul is hit, but not destroyed / shattered, it'll gradually mend itself and it is an over-time process.
Well... that's all I'm gonna talk about it here.

Souls
In both ToaT and WoD, souls are things that are most of the time essential for one's life.
Souls are usually heart-shaped, and sizes around a person (or creature)'s heart. They come in various colors, but most of them are white. If you are one of the colored crew, congratulations! You're at least unique being.
Colored souls has more energy than white souls, and therefore is usually more powerful than them. People/creatures with a colored soul may be more talented in magic than others. The benefit might also include things from other perspectives, e.g. a person with a red soul might have extreme willpower, while a person with a purple soul will probably do better in studies.
However, if a soul is with a dark hue, this might mean that the person/creature with this soul is corrupted by their own malice or hate. The darker the soul is, the darker the person/creature is. If you find a completely black soul, congratulations. You just found pure HATE, and now run.
Most of the souls glow, and the brightness of the glow can indicate the person/creature's health and mood.
If you see cracks on a soul, it's either that the person has mental injury, or the soul has been physically damaged.

When Cream/Luke/Xueqing dies, their corpses will soon turn into gray stardust.
The stardust can passively absorb positive energy, and if absorbed enough, they will get active and turn cyan (Cream)/navy blue (Xueqing)/Lime green (Luke).
You need at least 95% of their stardust and their soul(s) (or at least 50% of their soul pieces) to revive them, and this is done by pouring active stardust onto the soul / soul pieces.
Missing soul pieces causes a decrease in max soul HP and loss of memory, and the pieces need to be collected to have the consequence undone.
