PC crimson/corrupted alters don't want to be smashed

i had a bug in terraria that makes me not destroy crimson/corrupted alters with pwnhammer soo how do i fix it?

i honestly dont want to fish for better hammers
 
You seem to be taking damage from the altar, are you in Hardmode in that world? The world itself has to be in Hardmode in order for your hammer to destroy it.

would this world happen to be in pre-hardmode? the world must be in hardmode for the pwnhammer to be able to break them

If you killed WOF in the world where you can't smash altars, you should be seeing hardmode enemies, Hallow and more corruption, etc. Do some exploring and see.

[eta] If not, grab a voodoo doll and start fleshin'!

k im google hardmode enemeis and make a house for the NPC see you in a bit
