While many people are a fan of Heartreach Potions, I'm not too impressed with them myself. They're more an "if you're set up to use them" buff than a general-purpose one. Besides which, I think that having a different effect fits well with the concept of Crimson and Corruption as being unique, but comparable. I personally think that the Shadow Potion would be the perfect counterpart, too. Like the Heartreach, it's an effect that's not always helpful, but a lifesaver when it pays off. The difference between them fits for different play styles. Heartreach Potions are for when you take your time and plan things out in advance, while Shadow Potions favour a more reckless, aggressive style. Of course, you could use both and really pile it on, but that way is for major over-achievers.
