Fire Bad
This game has tons of content. Considering that there are over a thousand reasons to like Terraria, I can easily live with having 2 problems with the game.
One is fishing but I don't see a reason for that to change. It's great, I just don't personally like it.
The other thing though, is pretty egregious because it's the one and only thing in the game that just seems lazy and boring, and that is the Crimson Desert background.
I mean, the desert evolved to be one of my favorite biomes in the game, with it's great variable backgrounds, excellent soundtrack for both the surface and underground (especially the underground, that is probably my favorite track overall), and with how deadly it is beneath the surface, it's basically perfect.
Then you take my OTHER favorite biome, the Crimson, with fields of giant bones and bloody eyeballs in the background, complete with a spooky soundtrack and nasty, toothy caves, and surely combining the two would make the best biome ever, right?
Right?
Well, no. The background is the worst in the game, and the underground could have kept the awesome desert soundtrack, but opts for the much, much weaker Crimson underground music.
What a kick in the acorns!
I guess there has to be SOME reason to actually WANT to use the clentaminator, and this ends up being the one and only reason to do so (I love the dangerous biomes in the game and don't have any issue with them other than this case.) Don't you dare use that excuse though!
Well, it's my only real complaint. The one thing that I think is a genuine mistake, that the crimson desert is extremely disappointing. The mobs are excellent (Blood sand shark skeletons? Evil Djinnis?? AWESOME!), so it's not all bad, but the music overriding the awesome underground desert theme actually reduces the scary atmosphere, and the background is just...bland. No cacti with eyeballs, no giant sandworm skeletons covered in blood, no rocky ruins sticking up from the black sands covered with blood vessels or spooky wild-west themed ghost towns, just nothing...but rolling grey hills of sand and nothing else. That's boring!
I mean, have a Brainstorm of Cthulhu about crimson desert backgrounds, please! I'm about to throw a tarot deck at my cat! SHIMBOOLAHA!!
I have buckets of infinite praise for the game, but the crimson desert is one of the few clear misses. I'd like to see two or three backgrounds for the crimson desert as it seems to be the most lazy of all backgrounds, I'd even go so far as to say that the one that exists should be replaced entirely for being boring. The blandness does not instill a feeling of desolation, creepy emptiness, or anything like that...it just looks lazy and boring (I'm an expert of lazy and boring, you don't want the game to be anything like me).
