Weapons & Equip Critter Shampoo-like items for swung tools and projectiles

This thread made me think that having more colorful ammunition would be cool: Weapons & Equip - Cobalt & Palladium Bullet

This also has a similar thread here: Weapons & Equip - Tracer shots: critter shampoo for your bullets!

This would just add another avenue to customizing a character. Swung tools and projectiles would each get their own "shampoo" item so you could, say, swing a Living Ocean Terra Blade and then have a Living Rainbow Terra Beam fire out. Or something equally gaudy like that

That's about all there is to the idea, I gotta head to work now

I wonder, would vanity ammo be a completely insane idea? I love the visual effect of party bullets but it's hard to justify using them.

didn't the devs say something about weapon dyes being impossible? ...or am i just mandela effecting
still, this would be great to have

This would be cool. Support!

WE'RE EXTENDING 1.4.5'S DEVELOPMENT TO 2027 WITH THIS ONE!!!!

I don't think we have enough vanity slots for this. Might need to add a third equipment menu for shampoos alone :guideembarrassed:

Now all we need is some echo dye... :guidenaughty:

when they inevitably rewrite the whole game and engine they should add this

Agreed the dyes don’t play nice with how the games currently coded as the engine is outdated by 5 years or so

I think it's even older - didn't it get discontinued before Terraria even launched?

No the engine got discontinued around a few years after launch i remember

The reasoning isn't that it would be difficult to code, it's that you can't really dye Dusts with this. This was actually demonstrated by an old 1.3 mod that added this feature, it couldn't dye dusts from weapons. You can actually see this with critter shampoo on things like the Stardust Minion and Imp Staff too.
Tbh, I feel like most people would be fine with that if it was added, though.
