PC Cursor Help!

I just got Terraria on my computer a couple days ago for my Hp laptop. I got started playing and I noticed that when I move my character, I as well cannot move my cursor. Also sometimes the character will not do an action like swinging a sword when I click. Until I get a real mouse however all I have is a touchpad to do actions with. Is there any suggestions out there or should I have to wait longer to just get a mouse...
 
Does your touchpad has two mouse buttons below the touching pad?
Because I use touchpad too for drawing, gaming, etc. Which means I play Terraria using touchpad from beginning but still use the 2 mouse buttons below the touchpad.
If you don't have it, mouse is really suggested to get.
 
I don't think it's possible to play ANY game with a touchpad or TrackBall. Wait for that optical mouse, and start playing.
