Watching Khaios has made me realise how much the blending between blocks affects how they look, so I wanted to create a way to customise tile-blending. To that end: Gauze and Sutures!
Gauze and Sutures are dropped by Mummy variants. Specifically, Dark Mummies drop Gauze, and Blood Mummies drop Sutures.
Here’s how the rules would look in different situations:

Additional items:
Gauze and Sutures are dropped by Mummy variants. Specifically, Dark Mummies drop Gauze, and Blood Mummies drop Sutures.
- Gauze and Sutures are basically identical: You click a tile with the item to Gauze/Suture it, and it will blend with adjacent tiles that are also Gauzed/Sutured - even if they wouldn’t usually blend.
- Gauzed/Sutured tiles will still blend with non-Gauzed/Sutured tiles… but Gauzed tiles WON’T blend with Sutured tiles and vice-versa.
- A single tile can be both Gauzed AND Sutured, meaning it blends with tiles of either type, but won’t blend with tiles that haven’t been Gauzed or Sutured.
Here’s how the rules would look in different situations:
- White: Material 1
- Yellow: Material 2 (does NOT blend by default)
- G: Gauze
- S: Suture
- GS: Both
- Black line: Unblended border

Additional items:
- Surgical Needle: Used to place Gauze and Sutures, using them as ammo? Bought from the Arms Dealer on a Blood Moon while housed near the Nurse.
- Surgical Scissors: Used to remove Gauze and Sutures from tiles. Bought from the Nurse on a Blood Moon while holding the Surgical Needle.
- Goggles: Now used to see placed Gauze and Sutures.
- Medical Mask: Increases range for placing Gauze and Sutures. Bought from the Merchant on a Blood Moon.
- Medkit: Like the Grand Design, but for Gauze and Sutures. Crafted by combining Goggles, Medical Mask, Surgical Needle and Surgical Scissors.
