Portfolio/Multi-Topic Deep Rock Galactic crossover

I originally shared most of these ideas on the subreddit almost three months ago. Admittedly, this is a pretty grandiose dream I have for my two favorite games, and I wish I had discovered DRG earlier so I could’ve come up with these ideas earlier. Whether this happens or not I just needed to get it out of my system and out on the internet.

Ideas for content on Terraria’s end:
  • M.U.L.E. “Molly” — a pet that works similarly to Chester, but it accesses the Safe instead of the Piggy Bank.
  • APD-B317 “Bosco” — a light pet, with functionality similar to the Magic Lantern, but with 80% brightness and available early hardmode.
  • Remote Detonator — a “weapon” that uses explosives as ammo, where pressing Use/Attack first tosses out a special projectile that sticks to the ground and then pressing Use/Attack again detonates the projectile, damaging and destroying everything within the same radius as wired explosives. Only one explosive projectile can exist at a time, the projectile must be stuck to the ground in order to be able to detonate, and pressing Open/Activate while holding the RD on a projectile you placed will deactivate it and add +1 explosive back into your inventory.
  • Shredder Grenade — basically a mid-hardmode (post-mech, pre-golem) version of the Beenade that releases shredder drones. The number of drones is fewer, but they hit harder, move faster, and last longer.
  • Glyphid Staff — an early hardmode summon weapon that summons “Steeve” [sic], a single spider-like glyphid that stacks in power with additional summons (up to 9?) and is able to crawl along walls like spiders.
  • Space Dwarf NPC — found unconscious in the cavern layer, last thing he remembers was being launched down to Hoxxes to reinforce a mining expedition, but realizes the Mining Rig’s launch control targeting probably went haywire and missed the planet entirely. Can move into a suitable home like all other village NPCs. Loves the Demolitionist and Tavernkeep, likes the Arms Dealer and Clothier, dislikes the Witch Doctor and Zoologist, hates the Dryad. Likes the Underground/Cavern/Underworld, Dislikes the Jungle. Uses a minigun or flamethrower for self-defense. Has some DRG-related goods to sell. Ideas:
    • “Robotic Parts” — crafting ingredient that can turn a Safe furniture item or Chester pet into a “Molly” pet and a Magic Lantern into a “Bosco” light pet
    • “How to Train Your Steeve” — a book-like crafting ingredient that can be combined with the Spider Staff to craft the Glyphid Staff
    • The Remote Detonator (after Plantera has been defeated)
    • Shredder Swarm Grenades (after either all three Mech bosses or Plantera has been defeated, depends on how powerful it should be)
    • “The Miner’s Guide to Hoxxes” — a book-like consumable item that permanently unlocks two special skills for the player:
      • All pickaxes can now perform a “Power Attack” by pressing [Open/Activate] while held. This attack creates a damaging AoE explosion centered on the player (about the size of a Bomb’s AoE). The damage dealt is calculated by taking the base damage of the pickaxe, multiplying it by (60/(swing speed)), rounding, and then doubling. (The Pickaxe Axe with no modifiers to damage or speed would deal 168 damage.) This same method would also calculate the knockback of the power attack (base Pickaxe Axe would result in a knockback of 22.8). Cooldown is something like 5 seconds. Also, damage, swing speed, and knockback calculations are done after their respective modifiers are applied.
      • All Drills can now inflict the Confused debuff in a wide AoE while being used (about the size of Dynamite’s AoE).
  • Glyphid Swarm — an invasion event that is particularly unique because, instead of only being able to happen on the surface, this invasion can only happen in the cavern layer. Triggered by something related to DRG, possibly by popping an egg sac that generates under conditions similar to Plantera’s Bulb (sparsely scattered throughout the cavern layer). The swarm is just a continuous onslaught of glyphids of varying types and degrees (everything listed here under the Glyphid subsection).
    • Glyphids in general would have Spider AI, being able to crawl on all surfaces and background walls.
If you made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read everything! I posted my ideas for DRG’s side of the crossover on their subreddit here (the devs treat it as their official discussion forum). The gist of the suggestions there:
  • A special elimination mission where you break three shadow orbs to summon the Eater of Worlds
  • Themed cosmetics that include a Hallowed Armor set (all four headpieces and the armor with a flowing, class-colored cape) and some special weapon frameworks to make certain weapons look like their counterparts in Terraria (imagine a leadstorm minigun that looks like a Minishark or Megashark)
  • Two buff drinks would be added to the Abyss Bar, mimicking the Hunter Potion and Spelunker Potion
Anyway, thanks again for checking this out.

This sounds like an awesome crossover idea, and I think it's just perfect, probably one of the best suggestions to ever be posted on the forums. And I've barely even heard of Deep Rock Galactic.

Tbh, even if they didn’t do a crossover, I think many of the things I suggested would be cool to add in other ways. They would simply need to avoid any direct or implied reference to DRG.

Sounds like a great crossover idea, if it's not implemented, i think it would do wonders as a mod
