PC Defeating naturally spawned Corrupt/Crimson/Hallowed mimics

Killing biome mimics is not that easy in confined caves where they usually spawn. Hitting one while being armed with only pre-hardmode stuff is very likely to lead to deadly consequences. However they drop powerful weapons and decent accessories along with healing and mana potions.

So, there is a guide what to do when you noticed big mimic during your adventure (tested on v1.3.5.3).
1. Find a relatively safe place near mimic's initial spawn position.
2. Build an "arena" shown on the picture below.
Important notes about arena:
- building it above initial spawn point of mimic is not recommended
- 2 blocks thick floor is to prevent mimic jump off the arena
- 7 block of free space under arena is to reduce amount of floaty grosses to deal with, Corruption variant would require higher altitude due to worms being able to jump pretty high
- arena should be wide enough to keep mimic on it
- clean area slightly (~5-7 blocks) above and to the both sides of two columns out of blocks

3. Jump into space between two columns and grapple the left or right block on the floor with your hook.

4. Wake up the mimic with your ranged weapon / minion / yoyo or something else.
5. Mimic will jump to the left or right side of columns but will not be able to pass through them. Now you can hit it with any weapon of your choice. Be careful if you play on Expert however, as mimic can reflect certain projectiles into you.

Even when mimic performs its "pound" attack it will not be able to pass through the roof of this construction.
Beware! Don't hit mimic while it is above. Knockback will cause it to drop into pit and kill the player.

As long as you keep moving and don't try to get too far above it, mimics should be no problem for decently experienced players.

Of course. However this tactics requires neither mobility items nor experience. Grappling hook here is for knockback immunity and adjusting position to the far left or right side of the pit, which can be done with movement keys (default A [←] and D [→]).

Can corrupt / crimson mimics spawn in artifical biomes which don't match the evil a given world spawned with?
