Do i have to create a new world for 1.4.1 to work?

So like. I've gotten pretty far in my master mode world. Not like. Hardmode and i dont want to restart. But with the release of 1.4.1 it makes me think if i should. Do i have to make a new world and completely start over on what i already have just to see the new update? Or should i just go with it. And create a new character and world after i beat moon lord in my current world.

Well the question is. Do i HAVE to.
