You wake up.

In a snowy clearing in the middle of a tundra of a forest atop a mountain. Grey raindrops fall down all around you, seemingly disappearing as soon as they strike the snow.

It's cloudy out. It smells pure, with the fringes of the cold only barely starting to get at your edges.

Welcome to Downpour, Shimmer Island.

Area 1: Glacio Forest

A coin gently rolls along the snow, faint lines carving through the white as it comes to a stop. At the same time, a small machine initiates a boot-up sequence never meant for use, ancient systems refreshing once more.

Akkith would clutch her blob of cells tightly, looking around.

The bulky war machine would be struggling to push itself to its feet.

The ground is a bit mushy due to the snow...at least the snow is thick enough to give them solid footing. It's not very easy to see very far though. The rain's just thick enough to inhibit sight to some degree...but it's not quite enough to say it's a rainstorm.

They may also notice this machine in particular.

Fortunately for the kobold, meanwhile...

They would only notice the aforementioned coin rolling along. No war machines or anything.

It appears like the Changeling is struggling with sensory underload, as if there weren't any noises in her head. No orders. Just her. Being awake. Awaiting orders. Not at the hive. Not even on recon.

Ossea

The avali loudly groans, gripping a firearm-tool besides her and sitting on the grass, blinking twice. "That... that's actually cold in a good way... but why... where's Kiviri? Alikia?"

The weather is not an issue as it cannot see in the first place, and as it pushes itself up, it would attempt to magically heat up its immediate surroundings to make them more bearable.
They may also notice this machine in particular.
As long as the machine does not move, it does not notice it.

Akkith looks at the coin.

Rain just sort of falls onto them from above...like someone pouring a watering can on them, as if they were a plant.
...
Weird, was that a distant rumble just now?

Ossea

The avali loudly groans, gripping a firearm-tool besides her and sitting on the grass, blinking twice. "That... that's actually cold in a good way... but why... where's Kiviri? Alikia?"
They may notice a kobold looking at something...

That would be successful, with the snow beginning to melt.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do anything about the rain though.

The Changeling promptly backrolls, gets up and hisses at whatever is watering it, like a hissy cat that hates a shower or a Changeling that is being cold-showered. And promptly flies towards the safety of a tree from the rainmaker, from there trying to ponder what was the rumble. "Chrys, the rumble." She repeats twice, but no gratification, acknowledgment (however cold may that be) nor scolding comes to her.

Ossea

The tinker-avali swipes her paw across her AR, to outsiders it's like she's just gesturing. And then, error, cannot connect to Nexus. "Hrmph...I can only see a scaly one and I can't ask others who they could be! Humph, guess I'll be asking them myself!" As soon as she says it to herself, nevermind the rain, she gets up and walks up to the kobold. "Hey!"

The rain just continues to pour down, more of a shower rather than a downpour, as the Changeling displaces a bit of snow from low-hanging branches.

The trees provide good cover too. Isn’t that nice.

She'd look at the avali.
"Hello? What are you?"

That would be successful, with the snow beginning to melt.

He would try to check for other heat signals nearby.

Ossea

She'd respond pretty hastily to the question. "Just call me Ossea." She smiles afterwards.

The Changeling looks at the snow, figuring out the place is wrong, with wrong weather. "Snowy, but it ssshouldn't be. Cold, ssshould be warm."

With a quiet grumble, Pax rolls himself over.. he takes a moment, coming to his senses and then staggering quickly to his feet, looking in dismay at his tilted pack on the ground, a few scraps of metal having fallen out. He then hastily shoved those scraps back into the pack, slide a finger along the side as the top closes tight. He hoists the massive slab of metal with relative ease, sliding it behind his back, where it comes to rest with a satisfying metallic click.

Dusting his hands and letting out a content sigh, he turns survey the area with his large oculus..

____________

Conquest’s body sparks to life, staggering to its feet as the head dangles by a few threads. It stumbles around a bit as the machine reaches frantically with its one arm, eventually grabbing the camera-like head, pulling it up, and then repeatedly bashing the neck area into the severed part until there’s a loud click. The machine swivels his head, loud pops and sparks coming from the neck.

“Perfect.”

He feels for his shotgun, which is already behind his back, then seeing his hammer on the ground and picking it up, holding it in a loose grip. After recovering his gear, he looks around, the sound of his damaged neck audible.

Pax and Conquest should be visible to each other, relatively close together.

Unfortunately, the visibility in the area kind of sucks. All the rain pouring down - weird given the snow covered grounds - seem to be just misting up, making it impossible to see from one end of the clearing to the next, though the visibility in the nearby area isn't that bad.

However, Pax would see a strange, humanoid..feathered-raptor-like creature (Ossea) talking to some purple kobold (Akkith). Conquest, meanwhile, would notice a large, bulky machine (Ghurux), with a smaller machine near it...
He would try to check for other heat signals nearby.
Ghurux likely wouldn't notice much in the way of nearby heat signals, but he probably would notice the two rather obvious moving machines to his left.

...Is that a skull sticking out from the snow by the Changeling's feet?

The Changeling picks up the skull, shakes it off the snow and examines it. "Not much use." But in her mind, it's more of examining what left it, not what use could it have. After that, she would also check for other senses/lifeforms.

A loud snap can be heard as the changeling picks up the skull - seems it was still attached to a body. Probably awfully brittle though.

This snap would be audible for everyone nearby as well, including Ghurux, Akkith, Pax, Conquest, and Ossea. However, it would be somewhat...distant.

Pax leans forwards, his huge oculus constricting as he tries to better make out the larger machine.

Conquest strides up to his side, slinging his hammer in a rough sheath on his hip.

“See something?”

“Mmm, indeed, Brother. I am not aware of if these creatures are other siblings.. but they do not look the part.”

Conquest shrugs.

“Not our problem if they are or aren’t, the real question is if they’ve got any chrome on em’.”

Pax squints further.

“It would appear so!”

“Then we’ve got work to do.”

Conquest draws his hammer, holding it firm in his grip as he strides confidently and quickly towards Ghurux.

Pax follows somewhat quickly behind, clenching both fists up to his torso in excitement.

The avali flinches, jumps back and falls on her back due to the snap. "Aah! What that was for!?" She promptly looks at the direction of the snap.

Trachea

The Changeling mutters a curse, before wondering how was this skull connected. "Oh you larva of a reformling..."

Seems the skull was still attached to the corpse…er. Skeleton. The thing must’ve been buried under the snow.

Seems they’ve been dead for a while.

The Changeling doesn't flinch from the morbid find, although feels like she was too late to taste its emotions. "...long gone, no love in it. Just empty shell."
