If a drop currently has a 1% probability, some people will get the item on the first kill while others will still not have seen the item after 500 kills. Neither result seems desirable. Better to have the item drop every 100 kills. That way, if you do the work, you get the reward, and you don't get the reward until you've done the work, even if you're a streamer.
 
I think this will never be in game because random num gen percent is muuch better. Yeah, that adds luck but not like all terraria is around farming, and every game should have something that would be based on luck
 
it does not sound favorable at all over the current system, if you are really unlucky with a drop then make a farm. It would be a shame to take away the joy of getting a really rare drop on the first or so kills.
