The 3 events that are easily accessible in early hardmode (pirates, blood moon, goblins,) could really use a little bit of love in the next update. I will discuss them in an orderly fashion, although this post might be quite long.
Pirate Invasion: first off although it is completley unrelated to the event, I feel like an ultimate event-farming accessory that combines the greedy ring with the treasure magnet would be an awesome way to give the treasure magnet more use. Second off, i feel like the weapons need some help, the Cutlass is an uninteresting true melee weapon with sub-par damage. I feel like a unique ability that is similar to that of the keybrand/breaker blade would really benefit the weapon. Secondly the Pirate Staff, while not particularly weak, it doesn't do enough for it's rarity. I dont even think a damage buff would do enough to make this staff worthwhile, so a rework possibly involving a special ability would be greatly appreciated. Another problem with the pirates is that unlike the other events mentioned, (unless in master mode) there is no reason to actively sought for the event. I feel as if some new drops would really benefit the event, particularly from the Dutchman. While the dutchman having an increased chance for the regular drops is nice, this boss really needs something else to help it out. Such as a new weapon or 2 to improve the event, possibly a mage weapon would help greatly due to the event not having one. As in for the rework of the Pirate Staff, now I get this weapon is a crossover with Pixel Piracy, but possibly reworking it to be like desert tiger staff would be helpful. Making it a single pirate captain minion that gains the ability to use it's coin gun and a cannon as you summon more of it. Note, the coin gun is fine as is, it doesnt need any changes.
Goblin Army: The Shadowflame Hex Doll got nerfed too hard in the last update, and while moving it's damage back to 40 might be too high, I feel like 37 would be a nice buff. I've found since the rework even with local immunity the Hex Doll is just too irrelevant to go after and giving it a small damage buff would really help it get back to its original healthy state. For the shadowflame bow, I do feel as if it needs a buff because it is weaker compared to other bows at the same stage, I usually don't play ranger class that much so I cant exactly say how you should buff it to make it balanced. The Shadowflame Knife is fine as is, if maybe a little bit too strong. I also think a weapon for summoners, possibly a whip or a unique summon that offers something other than sanguine or blade staff for pre-mechs. A few other nice additions. Possibly adding something to the Shadowflame debuff, similar to Cursed Flames' additional knockback would really help out these weapons. As for the whip/summon something that inflicts Shadowflame would be nice, possibly with a unique whip buff that makes all minions inflict shadowflame on the enemy. And lastly a Shadowflame Flask with an addition of a plentiful drop that enables crafting, possibly from Shadowflame Apparitions. It would fill the hole of the nonexistant Hell-Fire flask for an early hardmode non evil exclusive dps flask. More flasks in general would be great because the amount we have currently is lacking.
Blood Moon: This is the healthiest event of the 3 but some additions would be nice, such as more drops from the fishing enemies. Like maybe a utility item or an accessory that would be helpful through out early hardmode. The largest problem with the event is that a lot of the weapons just suck, particularly the KO Cannon and Blood Thorn. For the thorn i think it's gimmick of coming from the ground is nice, a good way to buff it without affecting it's DPS (which is decent currently) is to make the thorns longer, this would really help with its main purpose of fighting events, making it cover a wider area. Some more drops from blood eel/dreadnautilus would also be nice although I can't say what. The KO Cannon just doesn't do enough damage for when it's obtained, buffing it to 60 might make it stronger but not too strong considering it is slow to use. As for other buffs i feel like buffing it's knockback to insane proportions might help it with events, and would make it a funny meme-type weapon similar to the slap hand
