When the Eater of Worlds spawns far offscreen in multiplayer (i.e. at the location of another player), only its head is existent for the local player. All of the body pieces do not exist until they individually take damage from another player (not the local one), at which point they quickly fade into existence. Note: They are not merely invisible. The local player's attacks go right through the space where the segments should be (as indicated by all the health bars) - which, of course, means that the local player is dependent on another player damaging the body segments in order to see them. In fact, for the other players who can see the entire Eater of Worlds, on their machine it looks as if the afflicted player's attacks are going straight through the boss segments and doing absolutely no damage. Players who are very close to the Eater of Worlds when it spawns are not affected.

Naturally, this makes fighting the Eater of Worlds insanely difficult.

I am writing to you as one, of the possibly many, people who have viewed the story written upon the taken down site of TT2. Although it is obvious that I am far removed from the circumstances that occurred there, I have come here to just say one thing. If you bring this up on the terraria forums, I can grantee that the entirety of the terraria community will band together to beat the ever-loving (virtual) :red: out of those who have wronged you. Terraria will not let you and your projects die so quietly. Godspeed -Ai
