PC Eater of Worlds Died but a single body segment remained alive.

As the title suggests I was fighting the EoW and when it died it left a single body segment alive. The segment had no head or tail parts. The boss did drop its loot but the boss healthbar remained and the music kept playing. I was doing this in a world where I was fighting it with primarily boulder traps. It wasn't a huge issue because I was able to kill the segment and the healthbar and music went away. Here are a couple screenshots I took of the bug:

(Also in case it brings up any questions I'm using a texture pack to remove the minimap border that is not a bug)

Also, I want to clarify that when I killed the segment that remained alive it did not drop the boss loot a second time or anything like that it just died like a normal segment would during the regular fight.
