tModLoader Elemental Unleash - Bluemagic's Endgame Bosses Mod

So, the Example Mod has some pretty cool bosses, but there's one problem: the Example Mod also has so many cheaty or annoying stuff that make it unsuitable to use in a normal playthrough. This mod aims to solve that problem. Here, you will find both the Abomination and the Spirit of Purity, without all the other extra stuff from the Example Mod. But of course, there needs to be some more motivation to defeat these bosses. So, in this mod, they also have cool new drops not found in the Example Mod! In addition, there are some new bosses both before and after the Spirit of Purity. The final boss is guaranteed to be the most challenging boss you'll ever fight throughout every mod!

Note: I am also attempting to slowly port everything from my old tAPI mod into this mod.

Have you ever hated waiting for daytime or nighttime to do whatever you want to do? Have you ever cursed RNGesus for never giving you a solar eclipse, or encountered a blood moon while you're trying to build? Your problems will be solved here!
Once you defeat Plantera, you will notice that most monsters will start dropping new items: drops of liquid. Surface monsters will drop Solar Drops during daytime, and Lunar Drops during nighttime. During a blood moon or a solar eclipse, monsters will drop Horror Drops instead. These can be crafted into Runes that can change the time of day or toggle the blood moon / solar eclipse.

The Clentaminator is a useful item, able to convert tiles and walls in the world to whatever biome you want. But what if you've already mined a bunch of infected blocks? It would be such a hassle to have to place them all down just to use the Clentaminator on them. Now introducing: the Clentamistation!

The Clentamistation allows you to use solutions to convert blocks into other blocks by crafting, at 100 blocks per solution. If you want to convert a specific number of blocks, you can also craft a solution into 100 droplets of the same color (no crafting station required), then use the Clentamistation to craft one block per droplet. If you accidentally make too many droplets, you can also combine 100 droplets back into a solution.

This mod also adds a new type of melee enchantment, based on the Dungeon Spirit. Ethereal Flames is essentially a more powerful version of On Fire!, Frostburn, etc.

As you fight various late-game bosses, you will also notice that they drop various items. These can be used to craft special, powerful potions. The Scythe Blade drops from Pumpking, the Icicle drops from Ice Queen, and the Bubble drops from Duke Fishron.

The first boss in this game is the protector of the Dungeon. Collect enough Hallowed and Spectre Bars to craft a Paladin Emblem, then you will be able to face against the master of the Paladins and the Dungeon Spirits: The Phantom!

Throughout the fight, the Phantom will often spawn small spinning orbs. These orbs must be defeated in time, or else the Phantom will unleash a devastating attack!
Note that the Phantom is meant to be fought around the same time as Duke Fishron, and can only be summoned in a world where Plantera is defeated.

The Phantom drops several weapons, as well as Phantom Plates which can craft into a throwing weapon. They all make sacrifices in certain areas in order to attack enemies through walls.

Combines the effects of all three ingredients, and removes the range limit on the Paladin's Shield

Once you gather ingredients from many bosses, you can fight the Abomination. The Abomination was originally designed as an end-game boss during the days of Terraria 1.2, which puts it at the same level as the Lunar Event today. In order to fight it, you must gather several materials from various late-game bosses: the Beetle Husk from Golem, the Scythe Blade from Pumpking, the Icicle from Ice Queen, and the Bubble from Duke Fishron. You will also need to collect Ectoplasm from the dungeon. With these items, you can craft the Foul Orb, the summoning item for the Abomination.

The Foul Orb must be used in the Underworld, in a world where Plantera has been defeated. Then you will face the Abomination, the horror created by several elements being forcibly bound together.

The Abomination will drop several items.

Molten Drill
hg5kCRC.png

Has the same pickaxe power as the Picksaw, and creates flames and sets enemies on fire like the Molten Pickaxe. This mostly exists so you don't have to spend time farming Golem for the Picksaw.

Dimensional Chest
FMD9Xlh.png

This can be crafted with a biome key to obtain the corresponding weapon, without having to create a new world then defeat Plantera in order to unlock a dungeon chest.

Six-Color Shield (Expert only)
Note: you must take more than 1 damage in order to create a shield.

Because the Abomination was created before the days of the Moon Lord, it pales against the force of the lunar event weapons. I wanted to give the Abomination another chance at destroying players, so here you go! Once you defeat the Moon Lord, the Abomination will become significantly buffed, both in stats and in AI. Defeating the Abomination in its empowered form will trigger the Elemental Unleash, spawning more powerful monsters everywhere (monsters coming in a future update) and dropping a special item called the Purium Infuser. Using the Purium Infuser will generate Purium Ore in your world, and each successive use of an additional Purium Infuser will generate less than the previous.

kxFRINr.jpg

Purium Ore will also spread the purity to nearby blocks. It can even convert Demonite/Crimtane Ore into more Purium Ore!

The Purium Anvil also has all the functions of the Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil.

Once you have Purium Bars and the Purium Anvil, you can craft many powerful tools and weapons, in addition to a new armor set. The armor set bonus introduces a new mechanic called the Purity Shield. Damage monsters to charge up your shield, or wait to charge your shield over time at a slower rate. The Purity Shield will deplete slightly whenever you take damage, and can grant you up to 20% endurance based on the charge. The shield can also consume 50 charge in order to grant immunity to a debuff for 10 seconds, and 1,000 charge to let you survive a fatal blow with 1 health left. The shield can be dyed with the body armor dye slot.

The charge meter is visible at the top center of the screen:
iueeJmo.png

Purium Bars let you craft powerful equipment, but it is also important for summoning the next boss: the Spirit of Purity. First, you must use Luminite Bars to craft the Void Monolith:

12
Luminite_Bar.png
=
RStoyl7.png
(requires
Ancient_Manipulator_%28placed%29.png

Similar to the four pillar monoliths, the Void Monolith can be placed down and activated in order to simulate the Moon Lord's dark background and blur effects on the screen. More importantly, it is used in crafting the Elemental Purge.

tmWHgeM.png

HZlojTG.png

The Elemental Purge will purify all tiles within a very wide range. But that's not the most interesting part...

In order to summon the Spirit of Purity, you must first place down the Elemental Purge. Then, you must kill a Bunny while it is in front of the Elemental Purge. (Don't worry, you get the Bunny back if you win!) This sacrifice will summon the Spirit of Purity, the one who protects the Void and the absence of elements, who now wishes to test your skills.

The Spirit of Purity is designed to be power-creep-proof, no matter what mods you use. There is a DPS cap that cannot be reasonably and consistently reached for vanilla weapons, but it prevents cheating with overpowered modded weapons. Many attacks will do damage based on a percentage of your maximum health, to get past super high defense people may try to cheat in.

The Spirit of Purity will have a higher chance of using attacks it successfully hits you with; better make sure you're able to dodge all attacks! Additionally, in multiplayer, once a player loses all of their lives, the player will be unable to fight against the Spirit of Purity after they revive. Oh yeah, did I mention you get three lives against the Spirit of Purity?

If you manage to overcome the Spirit of Purity, it will reward you with an Infinity Crystal (2 in expert mode), which can be used to upgrade many of your accessories. All crafting involving the Infinity Crystal requires the Elemental Purge as a crafting station. There are 15 items that can be created. A few of them have unique effects, such as increasing the effectiveness of hearts that you pick up. Talk to the Guide to see what you can make!

If you manage to defeat the Spirit of Purity on expert mode, you will be rewarded with one of four extraordinarily powerful weapons. There is one weapon for each class, and each has an equal chance of dropping.

Note that these weapons have been buffed significantly ever since these videos have been recorded.
Melee Weapon: Dance of Blades
Imgur
Swings all around you and makes blades rain from the sky.
Note: The sprite for this weapon has since been improved by @Eli10293 and is not reflected in this recording

Ranged Weapon: Cleanser Beam
Imgur
Completely ignores the cooldown counter that usually applies to enemies hit by penetrating projectiles. However, it comes at the cost of disabling movement when in use. In addition, it cannot be turned while active; all the aiming must be done before it is fired.

Magic Weapon: Prismatic Shocker
Imgur
Creates a prismatic sphere wherever you click your mouse. Up to 5 may exist per player. In addition, beams of light will appear between all spheres and damage enemies. Switching to a different weapon or right-clicking will make all spheres disappear.

Summon Weapon: Emblem of the Void
Imgur
Summons a Void Emissary to fight for you. Its ultimate attack has a cooldown of 10 seconds, and damages all enemies within the vicinity for double damage. While its waiting for the cooldown, it can shoot beams of lasers at enemies it has a clear view of, and perform a dash attack on enemies that are behind walls.

There is one more item you can craft out of the Infinity Crystal, called the Ritual of Endings. This item has a crazy crafting recipe requiring you to master all the elements of the Terraria world, but it has infinite uses; once you have one, you will never need to craft another. This item is used to summon the final boss, the sworn enemy of the Spirit of Purity: the Spirit of Chaos! Like the Spirit of Purity, this boss is designed to be powercreep-proof. All attacks will do damage proportional to your maximum health, and while defense will still be useful, having an extremely high amount of defense will not help any more than having high vanilla levels of defense. Just like the Spirit of Purity, you also get 3 lives throughout the entire fight.

Phase 1: This part of the fight is similar to the Spirit of Purity fight. A damage cap exists to prevent cheese; otherwise, just dodge all the attacks.

Phase 2: In this part of the fight, the main body will be immune to all your attacks. However, you can push the arms by attacking them. To damage the boss, push the arms so that the lasers hit the main body. Eight laser hits are required to win.

Phase 3: This mostly exists to calm you down after an intense fight. Defeat the boss in time, or it will unleash a barrage of ultimate attacks. Other than that, the only thing it does is release orbs that reduce your damage by 25% by 5 seconds. This effect stacks!

Defeating the Spirit of Chaos will reward you with a Chaos Crystal. Additionally, you will receive a Cataclysm Crystal in expert mode. Using them will give you chaos points or cataclysm points, which can then be used to permanently upgrade stats of your choosing, without having to take up any accessory slot!
Note: It requires 105 Chaos Crystals and 40 Cataclysm Crystals in order to max out every stat. You are not meant to do this (unless you really love grinding for some reason); use your points wisely!
xtRAgzi.png
6upQvyX.png

Crafting an Infinity Crystal and a Bunny together will create an item that allows you to summon the most powerful boss in all of modded Terrara...

The fight will alternate between the boss summoning a probe for you to defeat, and unleashing attacks that you must dodge. Every time you defeat a probe, it will lose HP. Be careful! You get ten lives, but each attack is guaranteed to one-hit-kill you, so you can only take 10 hits. Every time you defeat a probe, the boss will lose health.

Once you defeat all the probes, there is a second phase. The boss will unleash gray orbs; defeating a gray orb will make it stationary. However, if you defeat an orb while it is too close to the boss or a stationary gray orb, it will split into 4 smaller orbs that are invincible and will bounce around forever. Once there are three stationary gray orbs, they will form a triangle, and a gold orb will move along the perimeter. Defeating this gold orb will make the three gray orbs disappear for good, and the gold orb will fly directly away from you. If it hits the boss, the boss takes massive damage, but if it bounces 3 times without hitting the boss, it will split into 3 smaller orbs that bounce around forever. Four hits are required to defeat the boss. The video explains this much better :dryadsigh:

And yes, this boss is possible.

Now to wait for the phantom boss from the original 1.2.4.1 version of the mod. Along with the purium ore that makes annoying purple text in the chat everytime you mine it.

incredible two bosses, unique and fun to fight. really like how the spirit of purity learns which attacks it hits you with.

I LOVE this mod, but the Infinity Crystal isn't dropping for me.
Woops, looks like I made some typos. Here's an update to fix that.

v1.0.1
-Fixed bug where Infinity Crystal does not drop
-Cleanser Beam now ignores damage cooldown caused by other projectiles

The Purity Spirit boss is the best thing I've seen so far in modding. Feels like a cutscene when it starts. And all the projectiles, the fact that you have to actually dodge here, even with the Rod Of Discord is just perfect. Finally my "SUPER DASHING" build is somewhat worthy.
No mod shocked me with their bosses. The looks have, but the attacks and the way how you need to play to win, no. Purity Spirit is the only one.
The weapon textures could've been better, especially the Dance of Blades, as it's a bit way too big.
This mod is really, really good.
Although, the fact that if I use mods and the damage of my Gilded Shuriken is 613 and it prevents all the damage that I do to the boss is 0 is kind of.. sad. You should put a cap above 15-20-30K of damage per second.

The "spirit of purity" boss is great, and is a very good concept of an endgame boss that cannot be easily cheesed. The rewards are fairly balanced too, being simple upgrades of already existing endgame accessories.

But, my only issue is the stupidly difficult expert mode part, it forces the player to have an ankh shield and make an arena in order to remotely kill the boss. This is a case of artificial difficulty.

If you hadn't known already, artificial difficulty is like raising the stats of something to make it harder, without changing the AI. In this case, the curse's duration is increased to 30 seconds, and the confusion is increased to a minute. The fight is literally based more on luck itself, even if you dodge nearly all of the attacks.

My original intention was for those walls to cause damage in order to force the player to strategically set up teleporters around the arena. Midway-through making this I decided that would be too hard, so I went with debuffs instead. However, it did completely slip my mind that expert mode would double the debuff times. So here's an update to fix that.

v1.0.2

Curse/Silence should now last 5 seconds in normal mode (instead of 15), while Confused should now last 10 seconds in normal mode (instead of 30). Slow/Darkness will now last 15 seconds (instead of 30).

The damage cap was chosen so that the boss fight would last at least 40 seconds, or 10 seconds per phase.

God, The Abomination looks like Yog-Sothoth (H.P Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos), you should check him, you could add more things about lovecraft (Cthulhu, for instance, is a Lovecraftian entity).
Also, the mod look cool, gonna try it.

Uh, I found a cheese.
the Spirit Of Purity has an attack where it shoots 3-5 lasers from its body, depending on health. This attack can give you the Nullified debuff, which makes you unable to use accessories and armor stats, effectivly preventing you from dodging. However, this attack does not go through walls, meaning you could spawn the Spirit on a long, solid ceiling and then teleport under it to avoid it's most deadly attack without having to try. It also seems that the Spirit does nothing about Damage Reduction (worm scarf stuff).
I don't know if this was all intentional or not (it probably was and I sound like a moron) but it's the best way to win the Expert fight.

The laser being blocked by the wall was intentional. It gives more opportunity for the player to put strategy into their arena. I consider that attack pretty easy to dodge anyways (which is why it gives such a crazy debuff).
Not ignoring damage reduction is also intentional; I'm assuming that modders won't use damage reduction as a form of powercreep, since doing so wouldn't be really balanced in the first place.

Ah, ok. I guess I do sound like a moron :guidetongue:, literally my only deaths from the Spirit were from being nullified.
