Brain of Cthulhu
(Inspired by @TheWorfer27's post on Big Signs. If you like/use signs (and you probably do if you're reading this), check out his post too!)
To do: Attach some pictures when the forum software is updated. In the meantime, please visit the Wiki via the links below to see the graphics.
Signs... Visually, they're a bit bland. They all look the same when placed.
NPC emotes were added in 1.3 to give some life to NPCs. NPCs can 'talk' to each other by displaying random emotes. That's how they communicate about their rituals to summon a Solar Eclipse by using bunnies.
To give signs some life, lets put the two together! In the sign edit box, an "Icon" option shows the emotes the NPCs use and allows the player to select an emote. The emote is then displayed on the sign. Hover text display and text editing will continue to work the same as before. A graphical icon on a sign will convey information at a glance and the hover text can be used for more in-depth information. I expect such a change could also be very useful for adventure maps.
