so i was playing on my freshly made master-mode world and i accidentally slaughtered a Zebra Swallowtail butterfly.

and it spawned in the Fkn Empress of light.




this only happened once

i hope it never happens again
 
I will take the note that you have killed a prismatic lacewing with the butterfly by accident. In this case I would recommend to equipa companion of critters or catch it.

If this wasn't the case then it is a bug that the developers have overlook.
 
I'm guessing a Licewing spawned right in the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly (it's possible) when you killed it.
 
I gave this a test, but I was unable to reproduce it.
Visually, the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly is somewhat similar to a Prismatic Lacewing. If you were using a ranged weapon, beam sword or summon, it may also have been responsible for killing the Prismatic Lacewing unintentionally. (As Roxas21 advised, the Critter Guide will prevent this happening.)

One thing to check - was it daytime or night time when the Empress spawned?

Having said that, it's possible there is a bug here - lets see if more reports come up.
