Blocks & Decoration Equip pets to mannequins?

This is a very cool idea, but if you're not aware, the current implementation of decorative Mannequins has already taken a very hefty toll on Terraria's gameplay performance [visual artifact, stuttering and slowdown]; until they improve this aspect, I can't support the idea of adding more "resource tax". 🙅‍♂️🙅‍♀️⚔️

what if this AND
there is a furniture item (pet bet?) than you can equip a pet to, and the pet wanders randomly in the general area around the furniture
so you can have pets flying or walking around ur house or in town

good suggestion if game engenee can manage, I'm not concerned about the calculations side of things coz terraria can run on a toster, but more if it isn't like with liquids that there is just no resonable way to implement more

I like this concept, but I share people's concerns about the engine being able to handle it. It's really not a question we can answer unless we get someone who knows a lot more about the game code and performance.

I would like if mannequins and womannequins could equip pets and light pets. I made all the bosses as mannequins and I'd like to be able to display the pets that the bosses drop on the mannequins and any other pets too.

Hi there @Matthew Mullin I moved your post into this already existing thread for a very similar suggestion.

For others, it's okay for there to be similar suggestions done by two different members, but since I was moving this thread anyway (out of General Terraria Talk), and since it's a basic enough suggestion that there aren't really any different implementations, I just moved it into this thread.

Here’s Redigit’s thoughts on this suggestion (from Reddit).

I had this same thought

Pet bed could either be sold by zoologist or crafted at sawmill. Would be a smaller version of the basic sofa that could be dyed, like the top half of the sofa as the sprite.

Item mechanic would be the same as the mannequin - equip the pet to the vanity slot and have a dye slot.

Pet would use the same pathing as town pets and to avoid overload the same room logic would apply (and maybe a green portrait in room) max 2 npc/pet per room)
