Blocks & Decoration Ethereal Blocks - Keep Away Those Ghosts

I would have liked this, but it doesn't protect you from worms.:sigh:
Edit: At leased in pre-hardmode, where ghosts aren't a problem.

I've been considering whether or not it should block worms as well. Personally, I think it should, or some other block should be capable of it, but commentors have said things both ways on the matter, so I'm leaving it out for now.

Can I request walls that block Chaos Elemental teleports as well? Because this would be a great thing for building bases in Underground Hallow if that were the case. (And then it'd definitely be worth the Ectoplasm.)

Even if that doesn't happen I'm still going to support, because this is a great idea.

I have no idea if that's even possible, but I'll certainly add it to the OP.

It could be possible to make it so that it has to check whether a tile has that wall, and if it does, it can't teleport in (like the RoD and pre-Plantera Lizhard Temple)

Nice suggestion
Have some sprites :p

From left to right, Soul Forge, Ethereal stone and ethereal brick

Technically it's impossible to craft - the Soul Forge is used to craft Ethereal Blocks (it says so), yet it needs to be crafted by Ethereal Blocks. Just saying.

Maybe ethereal paint doesnt change the colors of the bricks you paint over. Maybe it makes the blocks emit glowing particles instead.

Ethereal Stone can be crafted at a workbench- it's the bricks and various furniture items that need to be crafted at the forge. Note the "more" in "*Used to craft more Ethereal blocks and furniture." I'll edit the post to make this more clear.

As a long time supporter of this this I just thought of a potential resolution to stopping wall hacks by players if it acts as a barrier to keep things out what if the ethereal walls block wall hack offense as well? The main reason is that as its stopped enemies from passing through walls it could be used to chase certain events such as the Pumpkin moon/Frost moon with a weapon like the Death Sickle.(I know you said it would fail for bosses but there are many other wall hack enemies in these events)
(also I still love that the recipe is so simple I like simple recipes that make sense so many suggestions like overly complicated recipes)

It might block players depending on how no-clip works. And I agree, it should block phasing weapons such as the Death Sickle, as well as phasing attacks from (non-boss) monsters. Adding that to the main post.

As for the issue of blocking non-boss mobs from the Moon events, well, it could give those mobs an exemption just like the bosses.

cool that should eliminate any chasing this can do I'd love to see what the furniture would look lie I'm imagining a more ghastly furniture style more on eerie side similar to spooky/gothic/bone

Completely early-endgame, completely pointless, so why? It's not like the NPC's don't respawn, also this just doesn't make sense... It was an interesting suggestion, but just honestly, no.

no.. just no.
it takes forever to get ectoplasm, and it's not like bosses can't get through (if that was the case, then i'd see the reason to nerf it)
As for Ectoplasm, it really does not take forever to get... I've gotten about 20-30 each time I went into the dungeon for about 30 minutes... so yeah...

Because it's still really annoying to have an NPC die as you're trying to buy that last stack of Rocket IVs. Admittedly, since NPCs can now defend themselves, it's less of an issue.

It was never an issue in the first place, or at least it wasn't for me. You just simply buy things during the day, and normally stay away from your house during the night. Also aside from the the Reapers (Solar Eclipse only), Wraiths will wait under you normally until you move.

Happens often enough to other people for them to complain about it.

Besides, is there any reason to not add this? As best as I can tell, it doesn't break any balance.
I guess not, but why make furniture? if the walls and bricks already keep ghosts out the same effect would be enacted with the furniture, and if people only like the furniture... that would just create more problems.

Why would the furniture cause problems?
