Because it would contain the same effects as the bricks, making the ghosts and reapers constantly bounce around in the house, unless the Dev's decided to code them differently. Why would the furniture cause problems?

Is there any particular reason the devs shouldn't code them differently? In any case, I hardly see it as a problem if they're bouncing around like that.Because it would contain the same effects as the bricks, making the ghosts and reapers constantly bounce around in the house, unless the Dev's decided to code them differently.

It means that they can't leave, therefore killing your NPC's faster and being more of a nuisance. Is there any particular reason the devs shouldn't code them differently? In any case, I hardly see it as a problem if they're bouncing around like that.

If you have access to these blocks, they shouldn't be getting in in the first place. And once again, is there any particular reason the devs shouldn't code them differently? It means that they can't leave, therefore killing your NPC's faster and being more of a nuisance.

Completely early-endgame, completely pointless, so why? It's not like the NPC's don't respawn, also this just doesn't make sense... It was an interesting suggestion, but just honestly, no.
It's obnoxious to wait for your NPCs to respawn because they just got murdered by a Wraith. Plus, it'd finally let you build a sky town, because Wyverns would just bounce off. More furniture is also nice.

Worms should probably be able to go through it for two reasons: It isn't phasing through walls it is literally digging through them. Two, there's enemies with wraith-like ai that hit blocks solidly, but how would worm ai react to hitting a solid block?

This is true...what about having reinforced blocks that worms can't dig through?

Good idea. And then, you can combine the two with the paint or actuators and prevent anything from going through.

Was thinking about this, and was just about to post a thread, gotta love the search function.
Anyway, I was gonna suggest something a little bit different.
Talismans (Be it Paper Talismans or Amulets or whatever) that you put up in a home of an npc, would need to be a suitable home for it to function.
Would just be for Wraiths and possibly Reapers.
Understanding that you might want the blocks for the look too but don't really want to make a suggestion for something when there's a thread for something very similar on one hand.
This could also be toyed with (for devs that is) and make some fun traps on underground houses and the like, especially if it's paper talismans, as they can be used with pretty much anything (in anime/manga that is, but hey, this is a game
), not just keeping spirits away (eeeek boulders appearing from nowhere and explosions out of thin air).

If you've gotten to post-Plantera, then Wraiths and Reapers shouldn't be much of a deal anymore, since you can just kill them in 2-3 slashes of a sword.
And maybe instead of blocking their movement, make it so, that it will give them a DoT debuff, that slowly damages all pre-Plantera no-clippers (later upgradable with fragments to enable damaging all no-clippers, excluding bosses).

Problem no, annoying yes.
And early expert hardmode they are a nightmare.

The problem isn't that you can't kill them easily. The problem is that they murder your NPCs while you're trying to craft something on the 3rd floor of your house and don't notice that a wraith is in the process of brutally murdering people on the first floor until the first death message pops up.

Personally, I just want a building use for ectoplasm. The sprites in the suggestion are ok, but honestly, I was thinking of something more wavy like slime blocks, slightly transparent like stained glass, and given a shifty animation like Mirage dye.
