Expert Mode Difficulties.

Diggler

Terrarian
After i beat Moon Lord in classic mode, i recently started a expert mode world. So far, i have full iron armor, Cloud in a Bottle, Shackle, Hermes Boots, and Water Walking boots.
I have about 11 defense. I have 160 health as well, along with 200 mana because i am doing a mage build. I died about 10 times to a blood moon, and i lost a large portion of my villagers. I am trying to get gold armor, but i cannot because i cannot get Spelunker Potions because i cannot get Moonglow and Nightglow. I was going to get Jungle Armor but i heard its good to only go full mage after BoC or EoW, because mage does not start out strong.

What should i do?

Id recomend just digging for Gold anyway since you probably will come across underground cabins, which sometimes have Spelunkers, on your journey. If you struggle to find gold i would recomend setteling with Silver/Tungsten until you get Jungle gear.
As a weapon, i would recommend a Vilethorn if your in a corruption world otherwise: go for a gem staff.
In you cannot get Jungle Armor for some reason, start searching for Meteorite Bars in Chests just above the Underworld and craft Meteor Armor + Space Gun.
You might also want to look around the Underground snow for a Blizzard in a Bottle since its better that Clound in a Bottle.

Thats pretty much it.
After that you should be ready to face EoC.

I am just gonna get gold since meteor armor would be hard to get bc i have to dig down all the way without dying

I'd recommend just caving until you have 400 health. Even with bad armour that should let you survive a lot better, then you can focus on getting better armour (gold/platinum/jungle are ideal, but you could also delay getting better armour until defeating the evil boss). It's probably worth doing at least some of that caving in the ice biome, since the chest loot is overall better and it isn't that much more dangerous.

ive heard a lot about qol mods should i use them it would make meteor armor easier to get
Y E S
if you want to of course.
It wouldnt make the Meteor stuff easier pre-Boss since most mods only make Meteor obtainable easily post Evilboss/Skeletron.
But definetly use QoL, its the bread and butter of all my playthroughs.

am i ready for the eye? i got gold armor and a tungsten bow with frostburn arrows, ik im supposed to be mage but i think imma go with ranged bc made is hard and ive never done it and also its first expert mode world not a good combination if you ask me :/

I think especially with higher difficulties you just have to be a lot slower and more meticulous about your expeditions. Taking extra care to not run along and die from what is normally small damage sources is difficult because you have to retrain yourself in very small habit you play the game. I found it a really rewarding experience having to essentially start from zero, experience wise, and building it all up again. Some folks definitely dont enjoy being forced to take every potential damage source into account at all times. Plus being extra squishy no matter where in progression you are, and thats totally respectable.

What class would you like to play as? You are free to choose however having an idea of which you are going to utilise makes setting goals for equipment and weapon progression much clearer
