Anyone like the Fallout games?

As you can see from my posts and profile, Fallout is my favorite game franchise and Fallout NV is my favorite video game of all time.

Hey Terrarians and fellow gamers! You can see what this thread is about. This is quite an old game but it is still popular among players. I just recently finished a session of playing New Vegas and I am having a blast. Lemme know if you still play and lets talk about it!
 
I heard this was a thread about Fallout New Vegas...

I'm not a fan of this game of anything. What's this game about?
 
Its an open world Rpg. The Courier, the player's character, was meant to deliver a package from Primm to New Vegas. However, he/she is intercepted by the Great Khans led by a mysterious man, who shoots him/her and takes the package, leaving the Courier for dead in a shallow grave. The Courier is later found by a robot named Victor, and is taken to the settlement of Goodsprings, where Doctor Mitchell saves his/her life. After the Courier is given some medical tests, the player is pushed back into the open world.

Eh, I dunno if I'd call it quite old. At least, four years old ain't old by my standards.

But yeah, I've got this on PC. I've done two complete runs (getting the Wild Card and NCR endings) and have a halted third run due to loss of interest. Although the only DLC I have is Gun Runner's Arsenal. And that was poorly timed, since I bought it while I was doing that third run. With a Speech character.

There's one thing consistent through all my runs, though, and it's that I always pick Wild Wasteland as a trait. Cause it's the best. (I think I always break the bank at every casino I go to, as well...)

Also, there's actually six DLCs. There's four with new areas. Apparently opinions on them all vary, although I mostly hear that Old World Blues is the best one.
 
Old World Blues is also the funniest one in my opinion. I got the Ultimate Edition with all DLC's included. I just got due to Nostalgia and thinking about the next Fallout game. At least give it Skyrim graphics and.

I was being facetious :p My avatar and sig gif are both Vulpes Inculta who are from the game lol. FONV is one of my top 5 favorite games haha.

There's a glitch to have "infinite" C4. I used it to place a ridiculous amount and then picked it all up to sell.

1, 2, and Tactics are all on Steam. A fair warning, however, is they are in no way similiar to NV and 3. They are all 2.5D top down games with text instead of actual dialogue. 2 is amazing fun.
 
I agree with Vulpes, Fallout 2 while not similer in presentation is at its heart a Fallout game. I have a special place in my heart for it as it was the one I cut my teeth on. Tactics is awesome too. The game is structured differently but the tactical combat is something alot of games are still trying to emulate.
 
Also I saw the tagged version if this being PS3. I have started playing the steam version of this and learned the wonders of mods as well as using the GECK. I don't think I would have an easy time going back to vanilla.

I know what you mean. I dumped hundreds of hours into the PS3 version as well. Dealing with the bugs and crashes all the time. Then a few months ago, I bought the Deluxe version on Steam that comes with all the DLC and started modding it. It takes it to a whole other level, right? I got a mod that adds hundreds of locations and quests. A weather mod that is pretty cool. And Project Nevada that adds alot of stuff like sprinting, implants and tons of other features. Now I run like 20 mods and it makes the game way better. Also check out the stability mods if you havent already. It makes the game way less buggy and since I have used it, havent had one crash.

I have PN and that weather mod you speak of. I also have some favorites of mine. EVE which adds plenty of visual enhancements such as better energy weapon effects, sounds, and enhanced criticals. My favorite is the one where your enemy glows in a ball of light and exploded into bones/ash chunks when they die. I have a mod that adds the enclave as an interacable faction. Another one where (In game) weapons mods can be removed/reused.

And As I feel the game is too easy, I am going to tryout this hardcore mod that does things like:
  • Warning! This module takes survival to a whole new level. Even when you survive combat, you can now easily die from your injuries (just like in real life). Also taking care of your Needs (thirst, hunger, sleep) is no longer as easy, since mine are based on realistic rates; and the penalties for neglecting your Needs are much more severe.
  • Injuries are based directly on degree of injury, type of weapon used, and your Armor Level. Adds Wounds, Burns, Blood Loss, Trauma, and Infections (and their treatment). When my default "More Difficult Hard-Core" is enabled, a fixed percentage of your remaining HPs are also damaged with every bullet hit, cutting and trauma injury (this scripted HP damage is in addition to the regular weapon DAM).
  • Moderate injuries slowly heal, based on your Endurance. Severe injuries require medical treatment, where self-treatments are based on your Medicine skill.Wounds increase in severity up to Level 10; Moderate Wounds begin at Level 2 (when your health regen stops); Severe Wounds begin at Level 5 (where you suffer from loss of blood). Wounds higher than Level 4 will slowly become infected. Once an infection reaches Level 6, it damages your health and the only treatment is an injection of Antibiotics.
  • Nuka Colas (and other stimulants) use my Jolt effect to reduce your Sleep Need, but your Need jumps back up when my Jolt effect wears off.
  • PipBoy Locked during Combat: No more combat timeouts to change into better armor, repair weapons, or take a lunch/beverage break. But the default Hotkeys (1-8) still work while you are flagged as being in combat, so you can still access any hotkeyed item. Once the "No Pip-Boy during combat" message is displayed, your Pip-Boy will be unlocked after 30 seconds, even if you are still flagged as being in combat, but your weapon must remain holstered and you must remain in Sneak mode. [For times when an enemy is just searching for you, and you might actually have time to put on a helmet or bandage a wound.]
Annnnd this pimped out base (Which I won't be using anymore as I feel it's too cheaty) However it's armory (@8:30) is the best part of it:
 
Also all of this could have been avoided had known about the "Pick up item in world space" button.

So, some time ago (perhaps 3-4 years ago) i bought Fallout 3 in one of my local game stores. It didnt run steam, nor games for windows live. It worked perfectly fine when my system was Win XP. Now after some time i have new pc with Win 8.1 (win 7 before) and I just cant run the game! When i put the disc in my driver and try to run it an error comes up saying "Please insert correct DVD-ROM, select ok, and restart aplication". I have tried many things online, like patches or running it from Fallout3.exe, none work. I got it to install by getting in Disc's files and launching setup.exe, but can not play the game!
 
Try to run the setup in Windows XP compatibility. Afterwards be sure to run the game in Windows XP compatibility as well.

I bet you'll keep having problems though. Fallout 3 is a reasonably old, poorly optimized game and crashes constantly in Windows 7. For me anyway.
I can guess that things'll get even worse when trying to run it in Windows 8.

Tried that, it seems the game doesnt see the disc. I might try to pirate it (after all i own the game, i think i am allowed to download it from wherever i might want to?) if that wont work i'll give up
