I think he wants them to work similarly to the Rabbit and other critters you can catch with the net.
Except this would most likely require fences instead.

This suggestion pops up every month or so...

Farming isn't really suited to Terraria. Any new animals would be like critters. They'd spawn / despawn of their own accord and get killed by enemies. While I generally like the idea of new critters, I don't think farm animals would suit Terraria's atmosphere.

I do sort of want a goose that lays golden eggs... I think fits Terraria. Maybe as an enemy?
