I'd call it a project because I'm finding something out.
anyway vote here for your favorite NPC

The guide, old man, skeleton merchant, traveling merchant, and Santa claus will be left out
some because they aren't permanent and i cant fit all 25. i can only fit 20. so :/
anyway. if santa is your favorite choose a second. same with the rest that are left out.

I've seen that the community isnt as defensive of other peoples ideas. so id like to see how it goes.

Im gonna break a mold here, but i gotta say Witch Doctor. I mainly say this due to my favourite boss being Queen Bee, but also due to what he sells! Tons of great stuff like Bewitching table, venom for imbues, and the imbuing station!

My favorite NPCs is Pirate and the Goblin Tinkerer.
Why the Pirate? I just love pirates, love cannons, and love everything about medieval ships with sails.
The tinkerer is one of the most useful NPCs in Terraria? Why? Simple, you got a powerful weapon, he can make it even powerful.
He also sells a great crafting station, the grappling hook and the rocket boots which are quite good to have.

i just made it after looking back like 20+ pages and saw one but it closed like 3 months ago. so doing my own findings
