NPCs & Enemies FINALLY a cloud/sky boss idea (the wyvern)

The lil duck

The Destroyer
We all know of the wyvern the hard core mob. I have spent a lot of time thinking what isa good boss idea The wyvern so here is how it goes.

How to summon: every 30 wyverns you kill (standard wyverns) summons the wyvern boss

And you could put together 5 soul of light and dont know what else ill need a suggestion on that one

Where it spawns: it would spawn in the cloud/sky area and if you leave that biom as your fighting the boss flys away

What attacks it could do: it could fly streight into you dooing 20 damage a second the boss could summon 5 wyverns to fight so the boss can heal a little the boss could have a attack called wind charge where the boss goes toward you at a really fast speed and getting away from you in the last second with a massive amount of wind knocking you back really dar dooing 60 damage

Drops:

-wyverns daughter (pet)
And the saying would be “monny and or daddy depending if the character is a boy or girl where did i come from”

Whyvern staff:
Summons a wyvern to fight for you 30 summon damage

-soul of flibbt 5-10 100% drop rate

I dident think through this well but i would like to say i like the idea if you have a anything let me know

This idea is pretty undercooked. Its attacks sound obnoxious, too; summoning 5(!) Wyverns and going away to heal would be super annoying to deal with, and the knockback attack would just make fighting the boss without knockback immunity almost impossible, which wouldn't be fun. The summon method isn't very good, either; 30 Wyverns is a lot of Wyverns just for one attempt at the boss.

I feel like something like the sunplate voyager would be better, maybe you could draw inspiration from it:

Stumbled upon this by chance, so I'll drop a few of my opinions on this. First of all, I feel like there needs something unique about the boss that differentiates it from other Wyverns; Queen Bee is quite literally the bees' queen (queen bees also exist in real life). Instead of limiting the boss' concept to existing enemies, I suggest using themes pulled from mythology, like the Fenghuang from Chinese mythology, just like how the Wyverns are actually designed like the Chinese dragons. Does it make sense? Yes. Does it fit the theme? Yes. Would it be controversial? Maybe, who knows.

Putting that aside, much like what @Big Sammich pointed out, slaying 30 Wyverns just to have an actual attempt on the boss is overly excessive. I personally stop fighting Wyverns once I get enough souls to craft a pair of wings, let alone fight that many. Perhaps, a consumable boss spawner made from Souls of Flight (instead of Light) would be better, since the recipe would be visible from the Guide's crafting tip. Since we're using crafted spawners here, this can effectively anchor the boss' rough progression spot somewhere, which is also missing from your suggestion. For natural spawning, perhaps staying in higher altitudes while a Windy Day is happening has a chance of spawning the boss? It may involve more RNG but at least you're not spending a lot of time pointlessly slaying Wyverns.

I think this implies that the boss ignores i.frames, which would be a nightmare since Wyverns are made out of a lot of segments.

the boss could summon 5 wyverns to fight so the boss can heal a little
Depending on progression, this can range from flat-out impossible, absurdly difficult or just a nuisance. Hard no since it's Wyvern spawning we're talking about here. Five Harpies would still be ok.

Woe is me, being knocked back on land is already annoying, let alone a massive aerial knockback.

Honestly, for the amount of effort I've gone through to fight 30 Wyverns and the boss itself (assuming I beat it first try), I don't think the drops are at all rewarding. I'd already have an abundance of Souls of Flight, other pets I'd already use and a decent-ish early HM Stardust Dragon...? A whip themed after the Wyvern (Whyp?) would be a better summon drop imo, but it still doesn't solve the awkward progression phase, difficulty and the rewards after defeating the boss, especially for non-summoners.
