Im not sure its a bug but after I use the finch staff "bird in the nest" buff is still active even when I completely get rid of this weapon (e.g. hiding in a chest)

This is intended. You can right-click the buff to cancel it.

All summons and pets will remain even after getting rid of the weapon. . . until you die. If you die, summons and pets go away (if there are pets in the light pet/pet slots, they get summoned on respawn).
